Good evening all
I am very sorry to make my first post here a cry for help
I have just purchased a peepshow fruit machine and I am very happy with it
I understand it uses a barcrest mpu5 CPU ?
Sorry I am bit new to this my last machine was dels millions many years ago
I have a couple of quick questions if you have the time
Firstly my refil key does not seem to work no problem I just pumped £100 float in to it by not collecting anything
I notice there are a couple of bulbs out no big deal
I understand they are 5mm 12v mainly on the play field but Rs components have many amperage ratings for these does anyone know the amperage for these bulbs ?
Secondly can you pump the machine in to a lamp to mode so i can check how many are out I think about 5 at the minute
Lastly would the machine have a manual specifically for it ? If not where would be the bet place to buy a manual for the mpu5 cheaply/free
Many thanks for taking the time to read this

Hi,
Yup, the machine uses Barcrest MPU5 hardware, pretty much bombproof and there should be plenty of spares available for a good while yet.
It's been quite a while since I had MPU5 machines do I apologise if this is wrong, but from memory this should be about right!!
1) Refill key not working - on the inside of the cabinet, the refill key 'lock' should be visible through the top door, it'll have two connectors on it and each of these connectors should have a plug on. It's possible one (or both!) has been disconnected to stop random people from using the key in arcades (we disconnected several in our arcades, especially machines that had known refill exploits). Look for two single wires with plugs on just hanging around by the refill key switch (on the inside of the machine, obviously) and if needs be, connect them up - doesn't matter which way round as long as they are the right plugs!!
2) The lamps are 12V 1.2W (100mA) 5mm wedge lamps for the smaller bulbs, and the reels will probably use 12V 1.2W (100mA) 10mm wedge lamps.
3) You can put the machine into test mode, there should be a RED test button on the programme card of the machine - the program card is in the middle of the MPU5 mainboard, and it should be fixed to the inside rear of the machine cabinet (left of the payout mechanisms). Easy to spot - loads of wires running to every side of it
With the top door open, and the machine initialised, press the RED test button, machine will probably go dark, make a noise, and add some credits. Check the display and it'll probably have £15 of coins in - if so, press the test button again and it should go completely dark and say 1.1 - COIN IN or COIN TEST or similar.
If not, press it again. If that doesn't do it, you may have an extra test button hidden somewhere (they started putting multiple test buttons in to stop defrauding!!) - the extra button could be under the reel shelf, reachable with the bottom door open. If needs be - get a torch and have a good look around
When in test mode, I think LAMP TEST is about TEST 3.1, can't remember the exact buttons but I think the START button will move between tests, and then an adjacent flashing button (EXCHANGE, COLLECT or something similar) will activate that test. CANCEL should back out of the selected test if required.
Note - on MPU5s, during lamp test, if the machine comes across a blown lamp, it may well scream 'HEY, CHECK IT OUT!!' - this can be quite noisy especially if you have your head inside the machine, if it gets annoying disconnect one of the plugs to the speaker at the top of the cabinet, make sure it doesn't short on anything and plug the speaker back in when done
[edit] I forgot to add, in LAMP TEST mode the machine will stop at a blown lamp, and then flash a lamp either side to help you work out which one has gone. At the end of this test, it'll do a FLASH test, where basically all the lamps flash on and off in groups. You can normally force it to do a FLASH test but I can't remember exactly how - it was something like - with the machine doing a lamp test - press the exchange button? Experiment and you should work it out!!
