Ok so im buying my first machine for use as a piggy bank at home, I know nothing about servicing machines so fingers crossed i dont ever have to much.

Any tips/things to look for when buying and inspecting the machine?

He has 10 machines but 4 all fixed ready to go:

I might choose one of the others that need work, but so far the ones i know he has on offer are:

Infinity, - played before, not much fun i think.

Crazy Knights - youtubed it looks very basic and boring not many features.

Spin on it:- never played it or cant find any videos online

Secret 7s-  never saw one before.

Which of these would be fun for features? any links to emulators for them or vids /pics?

Thanks

(my favourite game is "top giza" i like the features on it, and is it "cops n robbers" or safe crackers" or something the one with same style play as top giza.)

Just to advise you, they are all old machines and not worth much money at all, so don't be paying over the odds for them - I'd personally value all of them around £75 at the very most, probably that much for the Spin on It as I reckon fully working, workshopped Impulse machines are worth a bit more these days (it's getting harder to find working examples, many of them are sold as faulty due to issues with PSUs and mainboards).

Top Giza was quite a cheap machine back when there was a HUGE Red Gaming clearout taking place, could have picked one up for about £40 (+ courier), and I doubt many of them sell for much more than that these days, as long as you stick away from trade suppliers. At that time I picked up a Life's a Beach for £60 delivered, just to give you an idea!!!

If you like Red Gaming, my advise is to keep an eye out or ask around, they tend to be the cheapest machines to buy second hand. If you like Top Giza (I used to love that too!), you'd probably like pretty much every other Red Gaming machine. They use Barcrest MPU5 hardware too, which is pretty much bombproof, but when it does go wrong there should still be plenty of spares about.

thanks for reply. ya well they all cost 200euro with delivery, But its really hard to find any in republic Of Ireland even from north sure a courier would cost as much as the machine. so 200 is fair enough including delivery I think.there really seems to be very few around Ireland for sale, I cant find any anyway just a few online for 250+

EDIT: found it on youtube:    i hate impulse games, that looks quite boring compaired to the red-gaming machines and barcrest.

So im ruling out 3 of the 4 listed, and still trying to find out what secret 7s is like.

I think ill call out to the guys workshop and see what other ones he has, Dont think ill go for any of those 4.

any tips when buying, things to look out for on second hand machines?

EDit again found a picture of secret 7s here: http://www.fruit-emu...ret-7-silver-7/

pretty poor collection there, think ill pass on those 4. and see what else he has.

Spin on It's actually one of the best machines ever made (IMO).  I always found it very playable.

It's Epoch tech though so it most likely will give you problems at some point, and spares are getting difficult to find.

Secret 7s is an unusual machine. I don't think it works in current versions of the emulators, so there's no layout for it (although layouts have been started, the machine had some kind of stuck-button error where it would gamble by itself).

Here's the flyer from the gallery here. No idea on playability, it does look pretty simple but I'm sure it has some fans :

As he said above he is in the Republic of Ireland so it's not as easy as winning one on eBay, he seems pretty limited as to what he can get hold of.

If you could find out the other machines the seller has, that would be useful. In all honestly, if it were me, I'd be tempted to go for the Infinity. It's not the best game in the world, but it's probably the most modern of the bunch. If it's the one I am thinking of it's got a figure-of-8 trail, and offers blue and red features? I think you had to turn the middle of the feature board between a left and right arrow or something... but it's been about 8 years since I went on one and it was only a 10p / £5 in a crappy local pub!!

thanks for the replys

Dont like the barcrest infinity, i was playing one last week.

I like red gaming machines and how they play so he replied what red gaming he has..and also sending me a full list.

The 3 he mentioned are    "XRATED"  "QUAKE"  and "crazy cobra"

from an image i saw of crazy cobra looks like it has the same layout as top giza so i might so for that. Xrated looks fun too.

Cant find any video of gameplay though.

Anyone help n link to gameplay videos of any of these or to to a cleared flyer for xrated? or flyers for any of those three. Cheers.

Ive seen alot of "on a roll" around so hopefully he will have one of them, its prob the newest of the lot if he does. But if theres a top giza im taking it.

They are all the same price,

Ill post a full list tomorrow.

For Your First Machine I Would Personally Try & Find A MPU5 based Machine As Mentioned Before (its Bombproof) + Repairs Are Easy & Spares Cheap To Get hold Of (Give You Exsample An Mpu5 Mainboard Is Around £20 - Where Older epoch Is £35+ Its Unreliable)

Saddly Ive Noticed Red Gaming,Extreme Gaming Ect Most Of There Machines Follow The Same Feature Layout Ie Dart Style Center Just Different theme

As Usual Im Sure The Great Guys Of This Site Will Assist You If You Should Need Anyhelp,Advise in the Future

I Had A Top Giza Pass Through Our Unit & Will Say We Did Have It For 2-3 Months In Office :) But Buyer Requested it & As Saying Go What The Customer Says Go - So Sadly It Went But Many More In The Sea - Just Right Place Right Time

Hope You Find A Machine Your Happy With & Enjoy :)
