Hello, first of all let me say thank you for those of you who create FME's and provide info about them. You have saved me a fortune from the £2 a go ones in the betting shops and arcades.

I apologise if the questions I'm going to ask have some up elsewhere but I can't find the answers and it's not helped by the fact that I can't remember the names of some of the machines.

In about 1986 there was a 2p game very much like Step and Skip, where it was easy to gamble up the nudges and then use nudges to skip to get close to the jackpot (£150) or the next thing down (probably 80p. When you got the jackpot it played that really likely Mexican tune (not sure what the tune is either, sorry).

If anyone knows the name or has a link to a Emu or has one to Step and Skip I would really appreciate it as these were great games.

My next question is perhaps harder to answer as I was really young when these games were out and I can't remember much except the first generation of this sort of game was out by about 1983, probably before. It might have been called 'Cash Nudge', the ones I remember (in Yarmouth) were 10p a go. It was unusual in that it has massive round buttons that were really sensitive to the touch, so the gamble could go from 2 nudges to 99 really quickly. There were numbers on the reels, that would take you to something like 2 nudges or 20p, 4 nudges or 40p etc up to 99 nudges (after 8 nudges I think). There was a bug in the machine that meant if you got 3,4,3 it went to 99 nudges and even if you nudged in £2 in the subsequent credits it went right up to 99 nudges again repeatedly.

I don't even know the make of machine but I'm sure it wasn't barcrest. It might have been Bell Fruit but can't be sure. There were really similar machines by the same manufacturer where the buttons were still round but not as big and not as sensitive but the general pattern of being able to take the nudge or cash was the theme.

If anyone remembers these or has an EMU (or knows where there's an actual machine please let me know.

Also does anyone have an emu of the very first Line Up, which had a bug that meant it feature held on £2 if you dropped the coin in after the grid had spelt Line Up, if the numbers on the grid and reels added up to 46 or more?

Sorry for all the questions on my first post in ages but the site has got me reminiscing - and it's Easter so the 10 year old me wants to be on the seafront looking at all the new machines.

Hi and welcome to fruit emu; what an excellent first post.

I do not know the first machine you mention, but the second is a brilliant machine called cash or nudge, released by Maygay on the Triple M technology. Sadly this is not emulated in the current publically available emulators, but I believe it has been done privately, so there is hope.

There is more bad news on the original ROM set for Line Up, which again I know of at least 3 people who have a copy privately , but no-one willing to release them to the scene. They were brilliant ROMs with much more to them than just the £2 feature hold trick. Have you seen my 30th birthday tribute post to Line Up? Here is a link.

How sad that roms, emus etc are kept privately by some.! No wonder members get so pi##ed off with the sites and folk with holding and not sharing information.

You out there who do hold these private collections should be ashamed of yourselves,in my eyes you are a disgrace.

Especially when so many put so much time and effort into the emu sites and for no personal gain, other than to give so many, such pleasure in playing the emulations and in preserving some fantastic fruit machines of the past.

Am shocked to read the above, but am not surprised.

Thanks you, the tribute is great. I only knew of a few people in my town who know of the trick so it's good to finally meet people who also spotted it. Was just a fluke that we dropped out last coin in at that exact moment.

Shame about the lack of Emus on those great games but it's promising to know they are out there and possible. I can still hear the sound of the numbers coming in on that cash or nudge and the gamble taking it up towards 99 nudges.

Speaking on 99 nudges I also remember a 2p machine that was in an arcade in Yarmouth for years (Barons) that went up to 99 nudges. Not sure if if was also by Maygay. Rarely saw the 99 nudges come in but somehow 99 nudges was a more exciting prospect than unlimited with an autonudge, as you could still screw up.

Apart from the £2jp trick is there any difference in the machine colour on this edition of line up, just asking as there's several different version on these sites varying from £2-4jp and I,ve got a few copies of them so maybe its still out there in disguise is there anybody out there that's got a snapshot or even better the actual dx of it.
The more I do today, The less I do tomorrow.
Fme is alive and screaming into the 21st century!
Enjoy FME and Happy Gaming!!!!

£2 and £3 jackpot are Line Up and Super Line Up by Barcrest.

£4 jackpot is shitty remake by BWB.

£2 jackpot is the same machine used for original ROM set and re-chipped ROM set with/without the £2 feature hold trick respectively.

One of the holders of the original ROM set is Wizzy.  The others have also have that original ROM set have contributed heavily to the scene, so I cannot in all honesty say bad things, but yes, I do wish they would be released.  That and the original Hyper Vyper £2 ROMs, which I don't know of anyone who has a copy, but again I would love to have a copy of them.

you know looking back in hindsight i could of bought both these machines original line up and hyper viper in my local arcade in stanley i used to always do the £2 jackpot trick and was always getting wrong off the guy running the arcade lol.in the early 90s they decided to get rid of these said machines the owner offered me them for £40 each but at the time i only had like £30 dole a week so i refused what a missed  opportunity but i suppose im like so many others didnt realize what  gems these old classics really are.
