I have an uncle who was a male doctor and he smoked it and he told me a joint is alot less harmful than a pint of beer, cannabis is widely believed to cure and shrink cancer tumors too, Drugs we take from the doctor or chemist can do harm too with side effects etc but i smoked it most of my life and did'nt do me any harm and did'nt turn me into an heroin addict etc, I don't have a problem people smoking it as fact is everyone got their poison they like to get high on and just because alcohol is legal don't mean it's safe and look how it can cause people to be aggressive.

well cigs and beer kill you also destroy peoples lives and are highly physically addictive thats whats wrong with them , also alcohol can turn a normal person into a raging lunatic and its not a rare occurrence I know loads of people who turn into dicks when they have had a drink   , but its an adults choice , or should be .

Im pretty sure the "pot heads" that you see are a small minority of dick heads who think taking an illegal drug makes them cool , and they smoke it where you can smell it (most likely wouldn't if it was legal  .

And the same could be said for all the piss heads that drag their heels at 2 am pissed out there minds randomly vandalising whatever gets in there way screaming and shouting fighting etc , but to say all people who drink are like this is wrong just like what you said , and from your story sounds to me like beer is a lead on drug =D

Point is dont blame a drug for a persons actions blame the person

If it did more good than bad it wouln't be illegal now, would it.

it was never made illegal because it did harm , look at m-cat or meow meow a million times safer than cocaine but the papers jumped on it and made up a story of two lads who died after taking the drug it was immediately banned with the only evidence coming from the daily mirror which was later found to be totally false and they never even took the drug , also there are loads of "legal highs " that you or your kids can buy online , drugs that have not ever been tested and are thrown together in places like china with the message "not for human consumption" nice hey , the gov did suggest taking control of these legal highs and as usual the reaction was omfg are you crazy , leave it to the drug dealers they know what they are doing

I think this thread is coming to an inevitable conclusion...

People have their views - you are either for or against the use of cannabis.

Each person is entitled to their views, and trying to prove 'facts' - whether pro or anti cannabis issues will not change people's minds... as I have said you are either pro or anti cannabis.

We'll see how this runs over the next day or two... please state your views by all means, but please don't keep posting links to other sites, quotes and general aggravation with each other.

I thought this thread was created to reflect your views, whichever way you swing, not to be flamed for putting them across... It will be locked if this keeps happening in this thread.

Debate is good - abusive comments aren't and won't be acceptable by the staff here.

Lets keep the debate on track, without criticising each other, multi quoting or linking external sites please guys! :)

At the end of the day alcohol causes more trouble, accidents, costs the nhs, costs lives etc etc than pot ever has & ever will.

And pot gets the bad rep & alcohol is legal.

so the tax from cigs and drink go to where. the tax gained from cannabis obviously goes to support families who's  lives have been wrecked by the DRUG, with a small % going to the fair trade grower in the netherlands or next doors loft. utter bollocks

Well ok i dont know anyone whos lives have been wrecked by cannabis ,  I know some relatives who died very young through smoking and others who have been alcoholics  , these drugs are the true life wreckers

About 100,000 people in the UK die each year due to smoking. Smoking-related deaths are mainly due to cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart disease. 100,000 thats a lot of families affected

The new statistics show that 15,000 people died as a result of their drinking in 2005 accounting for three per cent of all deaths in that year. It is 80 per cent higher than had been thought.

Experts have established the number of deaths from 48 conditions that are related to alcohol instead of only counting diseases solely caused by drinking such as alcoholic liver disease and overdoses.

in 2011-2012 the gov made 12.1 billion in tax from tobacco its been increasing by 1 billion each year since 2009-2010 and they spend the tax on whatever they like , such as bailing out our failing banks , it would be nice if all taxes from it went on treating any problems that arose from it

I'm sure we could all benefit from the billions of tax that could be made from cannabis , rather than some scum buying a new range rover

ovc it has , I imagine someone somewhere has smoked a bit of weed and then fell off a roof and died , but when compared to legal drugs it will be a very small % , also when testing for "drug driving" if for instance you say smoked 1 joint 2 weeks ago it will show up in a test and they will record it as drug driving when we all know the effects of cannabis wear off in less than 24 hours , so until they make a test that detects the amount its a pretty bad test , also if anything cannabis will make you drive more carefully  5th gear drug driving test
