Download AVG if you don't have an anti-virus checker. It's free and up to date and does the biz. The free edition is on the left hand side of the home page.

No Virus Checker is 100%...but compared to Norton and McAfee it's brilliant...and it's updated regularly.
They should give me a job in advertising.

...That'll stop the 'virus' from being loaded into memory, and then you should be able to delete the affected file [after restarting].
This 'bloodhound' stuff is part of Symantecs [Norton] 'Advance Virus Detection' stuff, where if it 'thinks' a file is a virus, trojan, or any similar, if it follows a pattern of a previous virus, it becomes a 'bloodhound' virus. If it turns out to be huge, it'll get a nice name - although according to the following website, 0>49 PCs are infected?
If you go to
http://securityrespo...exploit.18.html
...it recommends that you submit any infected files to them using 'Scan and Deliver', although as I haven't used Norton for ages, I'm not sure about how to do it

Any of those damn Bloodhound viruses are a nuisance to get rid of. I've always had to reinstall windows. A quick format (Format c: /q) doesn't always work either, so a full format of the drive is always recommended if that is the route you choose to go down.
As for what Bencrest said, 0 - 49 PC's infected if you trust the Norton site. I can't see how this can be true (What Norton say, not what Bencrest says, which IS true!). I'm sure more than 49 pc's have had a bloodhound virus... sigh.

Hi,
If you go to www.opistat.com and join them for free they give you the Norman Anti Virus full package totally free with free updates, its the biz!
I have had Norman Virus Killer for over a year now and it's worked everytime!
You get free updates daily and it uses something called sandbox tech with simulates your computer to see what damage viruses can do to your system and catches the ruddy thing before it gets into your system!
When I sopke to a guy in PC world he said this is one of the best virus killers and if I was to buy it from them it would have cost me upto £71
Norman Anti Virus also catches all those horrid spyware and adware gremlins that love to try and take over yout poor little system!
I think this has to be one of the best virus killers and Ive had a few in my time!
So go to www.opistat.com and select United Kingdom sign up which only takes a few seconds and you can get your free copy of the latest anti virus!

They are not virii, they are adware/spyware.
They are in the Windows Registry - before you go in there though, I'd recommend you make a backup . Make some changes in there incorrectly, and you can stop Windows from booting
Anyway, to get there, go to the Start Menu, click on Run, and type 'regedit' without quotes into the textbox, and press ok. Everything in there is in tree view, so it should be easy to navigate. If you have some adware/spyware detection stuff on, it may well undo any changes you make in there, effectively stopping you from deleting the startup keys for spyware/adware. If you change something in the registry, and a box appears saying 'Registry Key Changed from xxxxxx.exe to BLANK' or similar, press 'Allow', or whatever the alternative text is.
Once you are used to the registry its pretty safe, I go through it daily deleting unwanted keys and stuff, but it does look pretty scary for a start

Alternatively...He could just download Spybot search & destroy which removes all the ad/spyware from your PC....Well at least I hope it does. Not had an update for a while now.

I gave up on S&D where despite updating loads of times it would not pick up the thing giving me a popup every couple of minutes, only thing that cleared it was Giant AntiSpyware.
I'm giving up on ad/spyware removal anyway now, I'll just keep wiping the registry and will stick with Firefox
