Hi all, just aquired a Impulse Spin-On-It that is as dead as the proverbial doh doh, as a matter of try it push it prod suck it and see i've found that the Varta Mempac batteries are leaking, no problemo seek code check voltage buy new, then replace.

Problem is the original battery reads as follows Hzero97 or HO (for oscar) 97 and nothing else, no other information as to what the voltage is.

Has anybody have the same machine and can tell me what the equivalent should be, as the above code aint doing nothing for me at all.

Right, what hardware does the machine run on, like Epoch, Impact, MPU4, etc?

Not 100% sure, but I think this machine uses Maygay's Epoch system, so if that is the case, the following link is what you need, but before you fit a new battery, make sure you wash the affected area with vinegar and scrub with a toothbrush, and rinse off with cold water, place somewhere warm in an upright position to dry for 24 hrs.

After this, test the board without the battery to make sure it runs..... it will still work and be fine for testing without the batter (Though on start up it may display a brief ram clear / battery error, which will pass eventually).

However, when a battery leaks on an Epoch board, it normally spells game over, so a replacement Epoch board will have to be sourced.

If a board replacement is needed, contact this chap in Derby to see if he can sell you one..... have used him many times before and he's support is fantastic, along with his prices being very good.

If he has nothing listed, still contact him as he may still have some boards yet to be listed..... just mention stanmarsh14 sent you his way.

Thanks for the reply, did as you said and replaced battery via the same link on ebay from the same seller. installed battery hoping that would solve all problems, alas still have white noise coming from the speaker, and now have no led 5.6volt output light on the psu. Really want to get this machine up and running, the outside of the machine's in mint condition.

Is it running on Eclipse or Epoch?

There is no 5.6v led on an epoch psu, it should be 5.2v (led 4)

The only led that may or may not be lit (depending on the board version) would be the 24v led.

If you want it up and running, and it is epoch, i reckon a new mpu would be needed and possibly a new psu board if the 5.2v led is not lit. (Board battery damage or someone messing around inside may have shorted something and knocked the 5v rail out).

Once you have the new mpu, you may or may not need a lamp board etc etc, depending on what damage has been done.
