just got one of those machines that turns cassette tape audio into mp3, for the first 4 90 minute tapes, it taped perfect, but now (without any warning) it stops recording, ive had it stop at 1.56, 8.45, 17.00 and 29.00 while trying different tapes, im on vista, ive lowered the project to 44100 and its still going on.

44100khz isnt high but if your HD is nearly full or highly defragmented it will affect the recording
if you have a seperate internal HD try recording/saving to that drive

Use defraggler, a free program from Piriform and run it on your hard drive, let it defrag and then try and record again !

Latest version is 2.0.3 (though this was released on 29th April 2012) and can be downloaded (windows, mac & linux) from the developers page at :http://audacity.sour...e.net/download/ (This is the download PAGE, ie you can choose versions)
http://audacity.sour...ownload/windows (Windows specific download link)
OR from http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ (free "serious" software everyday, usually with a one year licence), direct link for audacity below:
Audacity Version: 2.0.3 http://lib.giveawayo...Audacity_41876/
Link to Audacity manuals and guides: http://audacity.sour...p/documentation (you can choose to read on-line or download from this link)
