It is two years ago this month I was given my diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease, and for awhile I thought it was the end of my world.
Your support towards me over the years has been immeasurable, and I personally thank each and every one of you who has wished me well on this journey that I must make alone.
Today, I have had to have a financial assessment from the social services towards my care package. I have been told that the daycare centre I go to once a week will be free, and that when I go into respite care (like I did the other week at Oakdene residential carehome), I will get a contribution towards that cost.
It hasn't been an easy journey at times... officialdom has seen to that on occasions, as has the illness itself - but I have faced those battles, along with support from my family and friends...
But I just want to say now, that the support that I have received from FME forums has been truly remarkable, it really has, and I am pleased to say that it has helped highlight dementia among some members here, as I am aware that it has affected a great many of you through family and friend members succumbing to the condition... I really do hope that I can continue to look forward to your support in the future - it really does help me in my care
Thank you everyone

May have known you less than 24hrs but that's great to hear.
Don't know anyone personally that has been affected however it sounds like a bit of a challenge that you're up for and winning.
Hope to speak to you more has I join this community

The Snakes & Ladders board game RDP is exactly how I was made to feel in appealing my benefit from its original decision...

Difficult for us to assess any changes in your condition today, from 2 years ago, as we are not privy to your daily challenges, and when you come on here your posts make more sense than most. If we weren't aware of your condition we certainly could not detect anything amiss through your posts.
One thing hasn't changed during that time is your positive attitude. You've accepted that you have (at the present time) an incurrable condition, and more or less raised your right index finger at it, and got on with your life. I like that attitude.
