Silly question, and don't no if have been asked before, but can these emulators and machine files be downloaded onto iPad? I'm guessing no, and I'm being stupid, but thought I'd ask lol :)

Wonder if someone could port them to windows phone

I'm not sure that .exe programs work on a Windows phone does it - which MFME is anyway. They run on the ARM OS system for Windows if I'm not mistaken.

I believe that if MFME, or any other emulator could've been made to go on any mobile devices throughout the years, it would've been achieved by now :)

You could in theory port MFME or another emulator to ipad or android with a great deal of hacking and effort but I'm not sure why you would want to bother? Imagine trying to figure out which pixel represented the nudge pot on your tiny screen... Is that a squiggle, a dirty finger mark or a plum? Not sure the processing power would be up to it either but from a purely software point of view, if someone were determined enough, they could probably get it to work with a complete re-write and some fancy libraries to fill in the functionality gaps.

Perhaps someone is already working on MFME Pocket Edition and about to prove me horrendously wrong . . .

OK, note that this is massively silly overkill but it can be achieved...

You'll need several grands worth of kit to do this, and a copy of iTap for the Mac.

1) Setup a quick Hypervisor server - Hyper-V will do or you could use virtualbox

2) Setup a dummy Domain Controller - 2003 server or later

3) Setup a 2008R2 or later Terminal Server

4) Install MFME onto the server

5) Publish MFME (all versions)

6) Install iTap on your Mac / Pad

7) Connect to the Terminal Server so you can run published apps

8) Open MFME and you're all set

I had time to do this and it does work but unless you have access to the required server software and hardware it's probably a bit of an expensive solution.

Anyhoo, thought I'd share as it took a while to get this working :)

Nice solution there Magz, I stand humiliatingly corrected! :)

Another solution might be to get Linux (eg. Ubuntu ARM) up and running on your Ipad in a virtual machine, VMware View is pretty good. MFME can then run under WINE (with a small patch). Not tested it myself as I don't have an Ipad but I've heard other people have got it working ok.

I'd imagine that'd work ok. Issue I had on Windows with this was that the local processing of the video meant that it worked but not with particularly good performance. With the RemoteFX you can setup (with 2008R2's Terminal services) you can pass that over to the remote server's video (assuming the host server has good enough video). Probably works better with 2012 server.

Either way, though, it's a tad of an overkill solution :).

One day though, maybe, we'll get it published cheaply enough to run it on AzureCloud or something similar :)...

I have run them using Logmein connecting to my laptop, they run fine but there can be a bit of lag sometimes (fiddling with the settings helps) but as Icey says above you haven't a clue what is happening due to the screen size!
