for just £3 more I now have 1MB broadband.

*just a suggestion*

Wanadoo will be resticted to about 1gb a month. Thats about 300 FM layouts, independant of other usage.

Best bet would be, as I am on [but due to change shortly as I get staff discount on Wanadoo :D], an unlimited 576kbit service. Yes it is £23.44 a month, but you get the modem, filters, free connection e.t.c., and a good 24 hour reliable service where downloading 100mbs takes under 30 minutes!

Problem is, for someone like me, being on a wireless router with 3 PCs sharing my connection, just viewing webpages and the like [and being permanently on the internet], I've somehow managed 6gb traffic both up and down in the past week. Not downloaded much, an album or two, several machine layouts, but it soon adds up!

You people should really try Pipex (http://www.pipex.net) as they have some good packages to try, plus not that expensive. I have pipex 1mb and had it for a while now, it has never been down and downloads from a good server average at around 115k/s and uploads at about 35k/s.

Its not the cheapest around, but its UNCAPPED and you have unlimited usage, plus it is so dam fast and reliable.....

Im not on commision or anything lol

I'm on Pipex, and it has been great for the past year, although when they first started pushing out 576k ADSL for £23.44 [BT et al were still charging £29.99], 50000 people signed up so quickly it kept bringing the system down :D

Only thing that disappointed me was email customer service is shocking, they reply to about 50% of emails...but phone service isn't too bad, I've had them answer on 2 rings on a good day :)

Wanadoo charge 17.99 for a 2 gig a month limit at 1MB.

my top speed I've got so far is 250kps (not bad I think)

However, wanadoo don't really watch your limit.

they are not strict (unless you abuse it I guess)

I download around 5 to 6 gig a month and they don't say a thing.
(no I don't get charged) on their site it says we very rarely monitor actual usuage for the first few months and when we do we'll let you know how and when. (kind of them lol)

Also if you go for the (dixons etc) wanadoo package you get a modem 2 ADSL phone line thingys (can't remember their name) and a broadband modem for £35.98 then the first 2 months free unlimited.

£35.98 is the same price as 2 months anyway (£17.99 a month) but at the end of the day the modem is yours (no lent to you)

I'll have you know with Wanadoo you get 2gig for £17.99 a month, not one. I've been with them for almost a year now and never once have I exceeded my "supposed" limit.

Is that 576kbit or 1mbit? Most companies will seriously jump at the chance to hammer people over their stated bandwidth limits, so I'm amazed you were not targeted.

Also, you need to bear in mind that all companies deal with BT and BT 'Wholesale ADSL' products. Therefore, even though you pay Mr Wanadoo, they pay Mr BT. You can actually become your own ISP for very little money, and sell ADSL for about £22 a month.

When Wanadoo sell their ADSL 1mbit / 2gb Restricted service to you, they are probably paying BT £15.99, and are making £2.00 profit per customer. They are SERIOUSLY unlikely to waive a bandwidth limit, as I'd say BT would make them upgrade you to the next ADSL product.

Last point....what do you do with this 2Gb limit? I personally downloaded around 2Gb a day no my 576kbit connection until recently, hence around 60Gb a month. Compare that to the 2Gb a month limit, and I reckon I'd have been kicked off Wanadoo pretty quickly :)
