MAGE [Multiple Arcade Gaming Emulator], is essentially a modification of the MAME code, that runs a small number of Video machines. I think it runs only BFM based games, whereas MFME2 will focus on Barcrest MPU4 based games.
I don't understand the bit about merging binary and main prog....a Binary is an Executable file. All you need to do is get some ROMs, and drag and drop them onto the MAGE exectuable. Version 1.9 has tidied up NEC sound emulation from memory, and maybe a couple more things.
It currently runs several Italian machines, Video Slots and I think a Horse Racing machine. It runs an English SWP machine called Quintoon, in which you have to make 5 Pontoons from the selection of cards it gives you.
It is worth a download if you are interested in seeing how how the project is progressing, but be aware that very few of the ROMs run at all [I think about 30 ROMs are available, about 5 of which are playable].
Still, it is a great little project, and I'm glad it is being worked on still

MAGE has nothing to do with Outlaw DX. I think that Outlaw DX needs to be run in MFMEv1.1, although it should work in MFMEv2 with some changes made to the speed settings.

Off the top of my head, these games work 100%:
Merlin's Money Maze
Paradice
Pokio
Pyramid
All the Quintoons
Slots
GoldenCrown
Lovely Poker
Pontoon (Tehkan)
Golden Star
The rest either have sound issues, payout problems or are just plain knackered.

Well, MPU4 sound samples (as opposed to synth sound) conform to a standard known as VOX ADPCM - which some programs like Audacity can import direct from the ROMs.
I would think that MPU4 Video samples are very similar, although I think they're stereo, rather than mono.

Where are the sound rom's for these and has anyone got them playing?
