Hi I desperate end of some advice I recently brought a barcrest superstar. I got it home plugged it in and it all worked until I tried to put money in I won't take anything except 20p so I looked up online and saw I needed to clean the coin mec which is an sr5 so I've tried cleaning it a number of times and still no luck anyone's advice would be amazing also if I do need to get a new sr5 how hard are they to fit

Sounds like you need a new one (take it you've cleaned under the flap?).

Not hard to fit.

Thought that machine might be a bit old to have a sr5 in thought.

There's 2 types SR5 and SR5i, but they do the same thing so you can just swap it over.

Did you buy the machine as fully working?

If you did then I'd be getting onto the seller demanding another mech that works.

When you cleaned it, if you took the screw out and cleaned under the plastic cover, was the metal slope that the coins hit clean and not rusty also was it loose?

It might just need the solder reflowing, I've had that happen on these before.

Yer the machine was sold to me apparently in full working order but to be onist I only paid fifty pounds for it so would rather just buy a coin mec for it I've just brought one on eBay for 24 pound inc postage so if it works I can't really moan. In regards to the one I've got yer I dismantled it and cleaned all of it still no joy. So is it as simple as plugging the new one in. Many thanks for your reply

Yes it's that simple, just swap the plugs over, not forgetting the routing plug.

You should have asked on here for another mech, lots of us with machines have loads of spares cheaper than ebay prices.
