first off hello everybody did have an account years ago on here and was a very active member but just cannot remember my login details so registered again.......

Im thinking off buying the simpsons fruit machine (blue version) for £20 but its not working the seller has told me it has been in his garage for around 5 years and when he has recently switched it on its not working hes saying it needs a new psu as the machine is not doing a lot but he did mention there is question marks and jumbled words on the lcd and im thinking maybe it the mpu board..

am i thinking correctly and do you think it will cost me too much money to repair.

Im not sure how much money these machines are worth now so do i buy it or not

Please help.

It will most likely be the main mpu board. Could also be the psu but the main boards fail easily , especially if been sat for 5 years as the battery will have likely leaked and caused damage which is unrepairable unless your an expert at these things. Main board guaranteed working these days is likely to cost you £40+ and sometimes the lamp board goes too and they are about £20+ . Unless you want this machine to keep and your willing to let's day, spend £100 on it then I would avoid. A new main board may solve it straight away, failing that, lamp board, followed by psu until it works .

Make sure you buy guarantees working parts though. "Untested" on eBay = knackered!

Always assume it the epoch board when an epoch machine goes down.

Just got a board for one of mine. £27 which is good. Even better it has missing in action roms on it :)
