Just come back from Holiday and fired up the party slots (6 Appeal) and getting an error on start up...

Worked fine before I went, I unplugged the USB before we went so If it got stolen it wouldn't work and plugged it back in and now this happens??????

Attached Files

Not something simple like you've plugged it into a different USB port to the one you took it out of?

I tried that but others do nothing.

The file listed as faulty is a windows startup file. Config is a configuration fault within windows, as there is no keyboard Im a bit stuck with what I can/Cant do lol

Il have to buy one I guess.

If I was to get one, do you think I could get hold of a CD for it like its asking for, could someone send me a copy as I believe the games are saved on the USB?

Think its an older version of windows in these, Its annoying I tell ya!

don't wanna scrap it off as I have not had JP off all the games yet :-(

hopefully an engineer will know how to overcome this problem.

Im sure the other 2 usb ports do nothing so maybe an old keyboard would work as these may be from a time b4 usb keyboards lol.

when shut down its corrupted.

happens all the time with all machines to be fair and there's no rhythm or rym, it just happens from time to time. I would try the r for repair with a keyboard, its not forgot its boot settings, that's a windows error. very common with anything with windows that gets hard shut off, ie switched off by power, biggest floor in all machines.

or you could remove hdd, put on a usb caddy connect to windows its 100% going to have errors & use windows to fix the errors, works with the rios all the time, I know nothing about these put it is a pc and windows and the end of the day.  could also bee a sign its time to change hdd so if you do get it running back it up as a must.

good luck

Il try a normal keyboard in it and see what happens.

If I need a new system, how much am I looking at?

On a Windows box, most of the  time that error is a corrupt volume bitmap. As Cyberbob says, running the disk in a caddy on pretty much any Windows PC will allow a disk check. It's actually best to run it from a CMD prompt as chkdsk driveletteritcomesupasinexplorer: /R as this forces a full check of the actual files and marks bad sectors properly.

Should fix it just fine...

Definitely,

Then make a back up image, as once those bad sectors arise, its normally been switched on and off just too many times, new hdd will bring new life to it,

take your time, and you will be fine. don't guess restudy first or ask if unsure.

& its not my fault if it don't work, guidance is free & without prejudice :)

Am sure others will know explain much better than I can.

A caddy in this sense would be an external way of connecting the HDD to a computer, normally it's an empty USB SATA drive enclosure.

I'd love to help but some of these modern machines have strange quirks and I'd hate to give you the wrong advice and completely shag it :D

Its f***ed anyway lol

What it boils down to is a fault with window, take away internet and your looking at a repair by usb or a plug in drive, I don't have the tools to do it is the basics of it

Or the drive image either, I'd guess.

I'm thinking that you'll probably need to format the drive and put the Astra image back onto it, which can only be done if you've either got a copy of it yourself, or know someone who has.

You could ask to borrow the hard drive from someone who's got the same machine, and it would make things an awful lot easier. Thats if they'll lend it to you, of course. If not, get the to make an exact copy of the drive onto a CD, and we can advise you further. This is what I needed to do with my Barcrest sitdown, which someone on here kindly did for me.

cant get in to settings as its black screen and it comes up with no signal, going to sleep. there is no start up screens at all? wouldn't go back to old fault when putting old HD in if that was the case?

I could make a video?
