I bought a pie factory machine without a program card. Someone on here kindly supplied me with one but I can't get the machine to work.
At first it made the "check it out" alarm with status light sequence of 12 green and 2 red.
I bought a new mpu5 board and installed this and all I get is no status light and the halt light flashing red (quite a dim light). I have tried changing the proms around in the program card and no luck. If they aren't in the right place I just get a solid red halt light.
Won't work on either of my mpu5 boards and am at a loss. Can't even get back to the original problem with the check it out alarm!! Anyone have any idea what it could be?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Hi ya dan.
You've put p1,p2,p3,p4 in the right sockets correct, I.e P1 bottom left p2 bottom right p3 above p1 and p4 above p2. Proms/Ic have a cut out at the top make sure. That this is inline with the sockets cut out. This will mean that all proms are the correct way around. i.e the promX pin1 is inline with the sockets pin1. There are afew other ic's Chr$ being a main one also XXXPIEF for example From the cutout on the chr$ makesure this is inline with what is printed on the pcb pic not Z8 . All proms should be for 100% reading speed as ST27c40001 -12f mismatch speeds i.e -10f will not work also. Here is an image from the bay have a look what I mean http://www.ebay.co.u...S-/321249929163

If you didn't have the program card for pie factory, you have had the roms burned that is fine, but you still need the PIC Char chip too. This is like a security chip that will make the roms run on the card as far as i am aware..
Do you have that?

I supplied a full mpu5 cart from a Pie Factory machine, it has all the correct sec chips I imagine. The orginal fault was diagnosed as a flat battery according to the mpu5 manual, 12 green 2 red. I advised that maybe a new mpu5 board might cure this. Is it possible to blow the roms inserting them incorrectly?

I could send another mpu5 game board with a different game, that might rule out the mpu game board at least.

The roms on the Pie Factory cart are good as I also previously dumped them and tested them in mfme.
