Not sure if this is mentioned in the article posted bfore me.. However there is a site around called OnSpeed
They provide a service that compresses your 56k connectoin to allow webpages to load quicker. You will have to read their site to find out more, however one of my friends has used it and found it a good service

Talk about a blast from the past. I still stand by my word and say you will never find a speed increaser for dialup.

You may find a program that decreases the packet size which appears to load pages quicker but nothing can make dialup any faster than it is.

Remember the 2 hr msn convo on this Ady ???

Whatever you do DO NOT download Market Score they claim to be able to speed up your dial up but all it does is put loads of spyware on your comp

Heres a good tip

Dont believe anything they say, your internet will only get faster if you pay for upgrades. Software packages dont do shit when it comes to speeding your access up.

Think i got the message this time.

Not actually true, services like onspeed will give an improvement, although depending on the level of compression you use, pictures will be VERY low quality. It will improve the speed of loading webpages, due to picture compression and stuff, but will NOT make downloading of zips, e.t.c. any faster :)

But this wont make the connection any faster.

I could change the tcp/ip packet size and limit it to something very low and everything would seem a lot quicker to load. but all i am really doing is telling my dialup connection to pull little packets over at a time which is faster than the default. It maybe quicker to appear on the screen but its not loaded half the stuff at the bottom of the page your viewing.

Even with compression you lack quality which to me seems pretty pointless as your not gaining anything by doing this.

So my views are the same, Nothing will make your dialup connection faster than it is, you can tweak it to copy smaller packets faster giving you what would seem faster loading times but its loading it in smaller packets so the whole page would take longer to load than normal.

Kinda confusing isnt it.
