If you are trying to find the Chr from the Space Raiders .bin file, i think it has been tried and isn't there although i may be wrong...

Nope its not done automatically. You need a HEX editor and search for the 'string' shown in the pic. Backtrack to the first instance of 'B0' and that's the number you need. In the pic, the HEX Addr would be - 14C44
Hope this helps

Tried that the 'B0' and the String are on opposite lines, tried a couple of addresses which seem perfect but its still not having it

Which rom are you trying? Could you attach it here?
Normally MPU5 roms come as P1, P2, P3 & P4. its when they're loaded into MFME they're merged together into one Hex file.
If it a Red Gamimg rom then forget it, they're different altogether and the info I gave earlier won't work.

I did say it wouldn't as i have tried before... That is why i asked why you wanted it?
That is If it is Space Raiders.
I have lots and lots of these .bin files/roms but i believe them to be flash card files that do not run in the emulator.

There must be 2 types of roms then, the machine Ive had a good look at uses the usual 4 chips, the flash card is empty and the machine works, so there must be a set of ROMs that run somwhere if these arent the ones

There may be a set of roms that run somewhere, yes. But this file will not run in the current emulator... I did say.

If you have access to one of these machines feel free to borrow the roms, send them to me and I will willingly dump them to try...
Until then I am afraid all we have is the flash .bin which doesn't seem supported.

Sorry Cardie. If you stick the file onto a compact flash card then programme the surface mounted flash roms (They are not normal proms) Then remove the flash card and then the machine would be programmed and there is no need to leave the cf card in the machine so it would be empty. As it would keep saying bootstrap Vx.xx every time you powered the machine up waiting to be programmed. This is if you have that machine. The only part ive ever got going is loading that XXXXXXX.bin file into the sound part of the emu to export the sound banks.
with mfme what different things where there with 9.4 / 10.1 and 11.6

Ah so instead of programming loads of individual chips they just use a flash card to program the chips that are already in the card? Seems a better way to do it.
Just confuses me that the EMU will run the roms just wont 'accept' the correct address
Thanks anyway

Yep yep so its just one file for the machine. No burning p1 and p2 programme and p3 and the p4 for the sound. It worked out cheaper to produce and quicker as some machines like bully4you used 6 proms p1 and p2 programme and p3,4,5,6 are the sound
Your always welcome fella

I know im being annoying bringing this up, so its there no way what so ever of working out the CHR off the ROM file I have?
Somewhere at some point the Emulator will read the rom and it will try to find the CHR at a specific point, so cant we see where the emulator is looking to find where the CHR is?
If the CHR is in all the other MPU5 ROMs then why isnt it in this one?
