Option 1 seems to be the best option but from what you and killcrazy are hinting, would it be worth it? Depending on how you two go about things?

Well the decision appears to be simple. Option 1 it is.
I am due to chat with Killcrazy on Monday to start getting up to speed with his emulator and working out the direction we are headed.
In the mean time I have an intermediate plan to write a tech in a dll, mixing the speed of C++ with the front end of Amber. Once I am fully up to speed with Killcrazy's emu (needs a name), and it is ready for release, adding the tech to his emu should be a doddle, simply implement the dll calls.
This should allow me to progress Amber until the other emulator is ready, at which point Amber will be discontinued. I have been really enjoying the online functionality of amber, so keeping it going until there is a replacement seems a good idea.
MPU4 will be the first tech to be transported, though it will be entirely written from scratch, with a view to the future for adding MPU4-Video and Plasma tech. As MPU4 is the oldest tech in Amber, it was written before I fully understood the nuances of emulation and will really benefit from a rewrite.
