Hi All.

Are there any downloadable emulations on this site that are of a similar format/layout to High Flyer, Big Cheese etc (i.e. Three icons in viewing area = feature board, three icons on winline = super feature, cash shots etc).
I know these are not able for emulation currently and that they are hated by many users, but I like the format (except the loosing part!!).
Do very well out of 'High Flyer'. Three jackpots in three weeks (one repeating) using golden hold. Must be very lucky with my timing.
Also, I am running Windows ME and quite regularly download machines that don't load correctly (missing reels etc). Would upgrading to Windows XP solve these types of problems in general??
If anyone can be of help or has any comments, many thanks :D

The reason for so few 'symbols in view' machines is simple that it wasn't until MPU5 [1996] that machines really went for the symbol approach. MPU5 can't be emulated, and neither can other techs from that era with the exception of JPM IMPACT. One machine which is similar to High Flyer / Big Cheese would be Vindaloot by JPM, I'd recommend you get the JPeMu version from Downloads :D

I'd recommend downloading the new MFMEv2 version of Vindaloot. The original on the JPeMu emulator didn't work on Win 98 and I would doubt if it would run on Win ME. The usual canvas won't allow drawing error...blah!!! :p

This might be a question for your thread on Win 98 Ben....Why is it that games that I've downloaded for earlier emulators, usually JPM, give the "Canvas" message but since I've downloaded MFMEv2 I've had no problems with any DX's for any manufacturer?

Mmmmhhh... I shouldn't have been drinking this Youngers Champion [7.3%] ale for this long.. I think I need to sort this out in the morning :)

Yes, I believe the problem with layouts such as Vindaloot in particular was to do with the handling of Reel Overlays, especially on Belt reels as seen on Vindaloot, Max Overdrive, and several others. It sounds like this works for you on MFMEv2 Gaz, which is good....although with so few Belt Reel DXs made for MFMEv2 [I think Vindaloot is the only on off the top of my head], maybe other versions would cause the same problem?

I recommended the JPeMu version [by Pook inparticular], as it is graphically perfect, whereas the latest version on MFMEv2 seemed a little rushedl. Have an experiment [if you don't mind, but I always like to see how Win98/ME users get on!] and let us know how you get on :)

I'll shift this into the Win98 Thread when I wake up....................

lol....even staff are entitled to a few beers on Saturday night.

The new version of Vindaloot is fantastic. smooth as silk..even on Win'98. The original download which I tried on JPeMu v.2.50 didn't work. I'm still waiting for someone to release Indiana Jones DX for the new MFME as that didn't work either.... :D

I'm onto my third bottle of cider...so join the ex-addicts/alcoholics club...lol 8)

If I download Pook's JPeMu version into MFMEv2 will it run though? I'll give it a go Ben and see.

:D

I wouldn't touch a new machine if you paid me, but can't say no to a good beer....especially on a Saturday night [I don't start work until 12:30pm on Sunday :)]

I tried the new Vindaloot...and got an impression of 'why was this released when there are better versions on JPeMu?' - but now I understand...so I guess I learned something tonight :D

Sorry Bencrest...I edited my last post above to ask if any of the JPM versions would work on MFMEv2...but as usual you were too quick...(as Homer would say...."Can't type quickly....hammered".. :D

Is it worth me downloading any to try?
