Can anyone help me with this.Just bought two machines for club,jpm cas/crazy and global dungeons and drag queens.Everything is fine with them it's just a few members are moaning that they wont accept the newer style coins (£1,10p etc). Do i need to get new hoppers or can they be adjusted to accept newer style coins.many thanks

Do you know if they use tubes and solenoids, or a more modern rotary hopper?

I can tell you that you won't need to update the £1 coin payout as the dimensions of these coins have not changed in their lifetime (to my knowledge anyway).

Dungeons & Drag Queens will certainly have a standard £1 hopper and coin mech...  What new coins are we talking about?  I wasn't aware of any apart from the new 50p that's supposed to be on the way (I've yet to see any though)

Yes apart from the new 5p and 10p I can't think of any coins that have changed in size in many years, We can rule out the 5p because it would not be paid out anyway, so that just leaves the vague possibility of the 10p for the Casino Crazy, I still have my doubts that this would have been affected though - did they ever pay out 10p coins?

 

As is so often the case the OP needs to give more specific details and clarification... none of this makes much sense at the moment...

Newer quids and new 10p's aren't being accepted by the mech.

 

New(ish) pound coins, the ones with sheilds on, can be a bastard with some mechs.... try cleaning the mech, if it doesn't work, try a different mech.

 

New 10p/5p will need to get the mech programmed for the new coins as they are made from different metal (another way that Britain has gone downhill imho, with Mickey Mouse money!!)

I've got a bag of the stupid new coins that my machines won't take, just have to keep using them to buy stuff. 

 

In some ways it's good to know that my machines will keep collecting my 'good' change, as it'll probably be useful in the future as more of the older coins are recalled and replaced with the crappy new coins.

 

Anyone else find that the range of £1 coins with 'bridges' on are also a pain in the arse with machines? Not just the fakes (as I often come across fakes with bridges on them) but even the real ones. They must have changed the alloy they were made from around that time as well.

 

Oh, I'm getting a bit off topic. What I'd do personally is keep bagging up £1 coins from the machines (since if they've gone in, you know the machine accepts them) and use those as change players, since I'm assuming neither machine has a note acceptor and you'll be selling bags of £1 coins anyway. Any 'duff' ones you'll just have to change as people get them.

 

Honestly though, given you are talking about cheap old machines, I wouldn't waste your time trying to reprogram them. Even more modern machines suffer from this frustrating problem, but your machines have so little value it's not worth it. I'd normally suggest getting a note acceptor, but again, talking about such old machines machines you'll be sourcing older and less secure hardware, so it's probably not worth going down that route.

10p's / 5p's I can understand with the 2011 and newer versions, due to the metal content being changed, but as Alex has pointed out £1 coins have not changed since conception far as I know.

I am guessing the OP is talking about the mech (I'm guessing it likely will be a Cashflow 126 of some description), which if that is the case, need to send the mech in to be reprogrammed.

Concerning the mech and £1 coins, the shield and the new 2013 blossom versions, tend to not work well in mech's that have a tight tollerence, so if you are sending the mech in to be reprogrammed, be worth asking the gate acceptance to be relaxed slightly for £1 coins.

EDIT..... Noticed one of the machines is a Club Casino Crazy, which maybe on the earlier MS / ME 126 mech (Certainly is the case on my similar speck'd machine, Club Roller Coaster), but again steveh can help.

I agree Ben, bag up the ones that they won't take and either bank or swap them, that's what I do.

He's confused hoppers with mechs, but I understood as my brain works in a strange way, it's a learned thing and it needs to do it to understand what my mum's on about half the time lol

Possibly, but I still think it feels cheap and nasty, a bit like this country is starting to feel to me, ...........but that's another story.
