just updated my guide to getting amber and the games within it up and running it can be found within the tutorial section on here although this guide may not be compatible with all computers I hope it help some towards playing this great emulator.

as said within topic if anybodies got anything to add as it a step to step gudie post it here or pm an admin/mod to update the guide

I only had to change a few words and add a couple of sentences, basically it's still the same as the original text when Amber first came out. Maybe one day Guitar or someone technically minded will do a full guide so everyone can play it, On another note where is everybody that can access it online only Seams to be me bb2006 and Ricardo on there.

Hey guys, I am really struggling still with getting Amber to work and have gone through all the site for help and still no luck. I am using Windows 8 and runnig as administrator and tried with and without Windows XP SP2 compatibility.

 

What I have done:-

Followed the install guide, Aladdins Cave shows up, but get Run Time 380 error.

 

Noticed my version was not the newest so downloaded latest but getting confused, if I just try and install I get Run Time Error 438.Do I need to delete or uninstall original version?? I am pretty sure the reason I do not have newest version is that old version gave me a weird error when it tried installing(something with "com" in error).

 

In case it was just Aladdins Cave not working I tried Cops and Robbers but noticed there was only 1 file where Aladdins had 2 files to download. I put the only .pad file in Layouts and it does not show up. So I then tried How Big Is Your Rock and it was 2 files but different file types etc to Aladdins. Just confused me!  Still tried and only Aladdin shows up still.

 

I have been trying to get this to work since day 1 with no luck and keep coming back to it. Any help is really appreciated it, I have followed as many tips as I could find.

I take it you put the rom parts (normally ending in "bin" into the roms part of the library)

  not sure on this you,re best bet is to find the amber topic with the 10907 and partytime title and leave a post in there hopefully Guitar will be able to help on this problem as said my guide isn,t compatible to all devices sorry it wasn,t of use to you

It definately got me further than I had previously. As mentioned, Cops only had 1 file, Aladdins had 2 zips(1 had 3 or 4 files within) and then How Big had 2 zips with only 1 file in each so a little confusing for me!

 

I will post in the thread you mentioned, and thanks fr the quick reply.

Try installing netframe, visual redistributable c++ & direct x
