...at least progress is being made - that is all that matters in the long run for your pride and achievement and FME a desperately needed shot in the arm
Keep up the good work Guitar

Well its steady but slow progress at the moment. I've managed to let a fair few bugs slip by and I'm still learning how to use C++ properly.
I've now got Smash n Grab to the stage where its doing writes to the peripherals, without crashing the dll
Tomorrow will hopefully see at least some life on the alpha. I've at least got some of the debug tools hooked in now so I can see whats going on for the most part.

Basically you need two images off image (background) and on image, these are set to 2 different layers, there are extra layers that you can dabble with for extra effects but you don't need to worry about those yet, but they are a particularly useful solution when it comes to complicated and hindered lamping.
Is the emulator running the roms?
Do you see an alpha?
Do you see yellow flashing lamp boxes?

You might need to change the order you load the roms. Instead of loading them P1, then P2, try and load them P2 then P1.

The roms are running fine,i can see em running in the debugger.i have no lamps on screen it's just black i can load the backgrounds in manually but there is still no lamps, things look to have changed some what since last time i made a layout for it.

What is the name of the machine you're trying to do? Does it need setting up in the configuration window?

Duty free by barcrest yes gone in to edit mode and tried messing with the settings but it isn't happening, will get it together again and grab a screenie of whats happening in the debugger.

take a look at the guide that tells you the screen res for a 1280 layout
Posted 14 May 2014 - 06:03 PM
on a mpu 4 layout you need the chr going in
the button numbers being known to speed up the process
the s10 setting up for tokens
I have all the info saved from every layout for easy reference

Heres what i get,the game etc boots up in the debugger but no lamps or my backgrounds etc are visible.
Posted 14 May 2014 - 06:13 PM
Hmm. Can you see the lamp boxes in edit mode? Can you see the reels, segs and alpha display? If not, make sure they're not set to 'Invisible' in the options. Set everything to 'Visible'.

Did all this before i posted and still the same results, does the artwork have to be set with a black background or does it not matter.
Posted 14 May 2014 - 06:21 PM
Try with no artwork, it can be added later anyway. Can you see a verical yellow line in edit mode? If not the machine size might not be set correctly. Also try pressing F3 to cycle through different screen sizes - see if that makes a difference.

yeah i could see a yellow line when i put it in edit mode.
