File Name: Road Hog DX

File Submitter: ploggy

File Submitted: 06 May 2014

File Category: Project Amber

Here's an updated version of Road Hog for Amber.  This version utilises the dual lamps on the Hi-Lo reel, plus the samples play as they should.  On MFME, the sample when you fail the MOT is too high pitched, but on Amber it plays correctly.

Big thanks goes out to Guitar, for the new updated reel images, plus layout advice and of course Amber itself.  And also SPA for the flier that was used. :)

Shortcuts are the same as the MFME version, which are:

Cancel/Collect - `
Hold/Nudge - 1
Hold/Nudge - 2
Hold/Nudge - 3
Hi - H
Lo - L
Start/Gamble - Space
Accept Bid - A
Reject Bid - R
20p Token Insert - 9
£1 Insert - 0

Put the .pad file in the 'Layouts' folder, and the other files in the zip archive into the 'ROMs' folder.  Enjoy!

Hi Ploggy…. Great release mate and as always quality from you. :)

I have just migrated the thread to the new Amber Release section mate within the Fruit Machine Emulation Section, as you'd put it in the new MFME releases.

It's OK - we're all adapting and getting used to it - and I designed it at that!  :bigeyes19:  lol

The forum's in a bit of a transition stage at the moment.  Sections getting moved about, etc.  It will be sorted out in time though, I would imagine. :)

I've updated the layout in the downloads.  The reel mask on the first reel was different to the others.  It was slightly darker than the others.  Don't know how that happened. :)

You can either download the layout again (1.1), or add the attached reel mask in the reel editor on Amber, and save the layout.  You can also put the reel mask into the folder with a '1' on it.  After the layout has loaded, look in the folder: Current/1.  All the layout's bits, and bobs will be in there.  Just overwrite the old reel mask with the new one, then save the layout.

Can I have a tiny tiny whinge?   It isn't off it's tits like most your releases are........there's a point, can we have a happy ram file provided, or is it in the pad file, I'm not at home so can't check.

I don't think you can have a happy ram has the pad file holds all the info

I released the Amber version completely fresh, so it could be easily added to the arcade.  I don't know if the ram file on the MFME version can be renamed and added to the Amber version.  I think it would be possible, but you might have to change all the statistic settings so they matched up.  Unless the information needed is in the ram file already.

You can drop the renamed ram file into the 'Current/1' folder, after the machine has loaded.  There will be a ram file in there named 'RAM0', which you would need to overwrite with the MFME version.

Just so you know, that wont work. When the pad file is saved, the first thing that happens is the .ram, and .gam files are saved out, so the absolute latest info is saved in the pad.

If you would like me to add a ram file load, I will do, but only for offline tho ;)

Bummer.  I really thought renaming the ram file would work.  Ok, mate.  No shortcuts is it then.  I'll release my next Amber layout with a new happy ram. :)
