hi ive noticed that on MAME there are alot of fruit machine roms that it says i can use to play such as Monopoly: Wonders of the wrold or e.g DOND: The crazy chair. However after i get the rom and i load up mame it doesnt work? if anyone has any help i'd appriciate it!

If you look in MAME it's marked as not working for that reason. Some games will boot & others will not, they had a rejig of the code recently & that broke a lot of the machines.
Besides, there are no layouts for them so it's just those numbered reels & black backgrounds with lamp matrix & alphas.

ah right i thought the not working was ecause i didnt have the rom yet so cheers for the info, could you suggest any good working roms that might be worth playing?

None are in a playable state at all, except maybe Dr Who (BFM SC2 which was done many years ago).
Just stick to MFME/Amber for the moment, MAME progress has all but halted, Haze is doing very little & James Wallace has just been going through & fixing things.
