Hi all, ive had this rainbow riches b3 machine for quite some time now, occasionaly it would restart on its own etc. However i went to put it on last week and had the 3 colour popping up on each monitor suggesting theres no signal. I've tried having a go of a few things but still unable to get the pc to boot up.

Ive tried the following:

replaced the cmos battery, tried booting it up without a battery.

tried removing / replacing the ram

tried taking the gfx card out and battery to use the onboard one

tried on different monitors

hard drive is working because ive put it in my machine to see if it reckonises it.

theres power going to the motherboard as the fans etc are spinning away.

ive come to the conclusion it may either be a faulty motherboard, faulty power supply or faulty cpu

can anyone suggest anything else to try?

also does anyone have any spare motherboards / cpus? i could try the power supply from my pc

many many thanks in advance

Power to the board with no video means one of 5 things.

Dead Video.

Dead RAM.

Dead CPU.

Dead Motherboard.

Dead PSU

You've changed the RAM and Video with no luck.

Try them in order of cost. PSU will be cheapest, then depending on the CPU type, Mobo is probably next cheapest followed by CPU.

ive had the same thing happen and it turned out the pc power supply was dead.

open up the machine and listen if the pc is actually firing up. if it is then its the gfx card. if its the ram/hd it will still boot up (per se) but will show an error.

hope that helps

hi again all, i tried my power supply from my pc, but its slightly different it does not have the white -5v cable so couldnt test it properly because my working power supply wouldnt boot it up must be because of that one cable missing. nick what motherboard do you have?the one in my machine is an msc g7l330-b

the fans on the cpu and case are spinning etc, just will not beep. im thinking it must be the motherboard / cpu, i will test this power supply with multimeter this afternoon
