I doubt it. Amber is still very buggy (as I've been finding out, where one day my Line Up layout was about 80% done, now every time I load it I have to turn on the lamps again).

Nick will be aware of it when he reads this thread. For now I would suggest leaving it.

yeah he knows about the odd lamps missing of the layout when I used the coverter in the older versions of amber

and plus sometimes when I click on a lamp on a little test layout I am doing a 500 quid one it just crashes amber when it feels like it

Amber is not completely stable at present. As I say, I've found plenty of issues myself with MPU3 which is why it and Line Up have not been released yet.

It's being worked on by the day, so Nick will no doubt sort it out.

Then maybe we should now be giving Ady due credit for standing up for someone who is under attack, instead of critisising him for it?

It's a difficult line to tread as a moderator and whether it's consistently right or not isn't necessarily a useful debate.

So let's not trawl back, but instead be happy that as much balance as possible has been restored to the forum and in general most of us are getting on reasonably well most of the time.
Thanks.

It is good, but he can't defend one member go & disrespect another for no reason, i can see you're impartial so maybe other people should take a leaf out of your book.

Can the same FSK keep quiet now that we have a coder who is willing to embrace people wanting to help him and FME? or are they really just here to ruin anything FME related because it makes them feel in some ways powerful?

The problem is as you touched on, one off the cuff remark or one 'instance' happening sent Wizzy off on one, THEN the 'FSK' (as you put it) would descend and show their unhappiness.  IF the coder plays by the rules (and why should they not... re coders disease) then the FSK have nothing to complain about.  Let the coder set the example for once instead of getting all stroppy and huffy.

As far as I can see Guitar is going about his business in the correct manner, involving the scene, asking advice, taking it on board, making releases and generally being part of the scene not taking on the part of dictator making demands or ELSE!!!  Funny the FSK have not turned on him.... ;)

It's very difficult, and I can't pretend that I always succeed, but I do try.
I often find myself caught between two different viewpoints, both of which have merit but neither of which is exclusively right. It can be a thankless task...

Thanks for setting the rules over what people do with my artwork, that's very charitable of you. And thanks for telling me if I don't like it "don't release layouts". I was already aware of that part though thanks.

I'm also aware of the blatant hypocrisy being shown around here too, given that about two weeks ago I had a PM from Ady telling me "hear hear" when I decided to state that I wasn't happy with people using my layouts to, well, make layouts.

The same hypocrisy shown by a moderator here who said he would start banning people if they kept doing it, yet, now he's threatening to ban people for arguing about people doing it.

Sheesh, I wonder why?

PMs. Private/Personal Messages.
I can read any PMs sent on this site but I don't, for obvious reasons.

Private messages should not be shared in the public forums in just about any circumstances that I can think of, especially in this one where ostensibly you're using it for the purposes of trolling and causing argument and discord.

Warning point awarded.

Also on moderation queue until further notice.

Seriously shouldn't moderator warnings be done via pm? Posting this type of thing on the forums just makes things worse. Then everyone joins in.

DC has quite a valid case regarding people simply rehashing other peoples layouts, not even creating the lamping themselves is really a shortcut to thinking. IE Quality is never going to get any better until people learn to put in some hard graft.

First unofficial warning was done by PM and was completely ignored.

Warnings were not directly related to DC's grievances with other members, they were related to how he went about dealing with those grievances.

As far as I can see the only other person to "join in" other than mods and DC himself has so far been you.

So your saying admin can just access your account and read our pm's if they so wished? Wether or not you would or wouldn't read them, that doesn't seem right to me.It should be private as in nobody can see them apart from the sender and reciever!!!

There really isn't anything I can do about that, by default the software allows me to log in as any user, giving me access to everything that user can see. It's useful when a member has problems with access to certain parts of the site, but unfortunately it's rather too powerful by default.

You could contact the developers of the board and let them know how you feel:

Its also possible the ability to read pms etc might be a requirement legally as the software is used by all ages including kids.

I'm an extremely level headed individual and am simply offering support to DC, I'm not just trying to 'join in' and cause trouble, I also have strong feeling regarding my layouts/artwork, I do know a thing or two about creating artwork and working on graphics for DX's.

I wasn't aware that DC had been earned through PM, for that I apologise. But I do think DC as very valid points raised.

It's all about evolving the quality of DX for the better. There won't always be the oldskool DX'ers around, if people don't learn then layout creation will simply devolve.
