I can assure you I did that DX. He may have converted it into MFME but that was my artwork I drew for BFEMU. I'd know it anywhere it was f*****g awful.

He is a trier fella so please give him a little slack.

 

I think that was a genuine mistake, i've seen a fair few bit's of late "thanks to X,Y and Z" for the images, all along I have had an input.

Mabey it's time the 'new' generation realise that these (images) all came from somewhere and didn't just appear...........there is nothing new I know here at all......

 

I think you'll see though that there's no sharing anymore, it's simply dog-eat-dog, that's sad to say but I see it as true............the demise of FME in whatever form.

 

The new 'creators' need to bump their heads and learn that although Mr Someone is more that capable of making a layout (and let's face it, of late it's all pump-out for a name!!) but stuff is passed around in a friendly atmosphere...........that's gone sadly, hence I won't supply anymore

Which just makes it worse. The point here Ady is that designers need to be designing their own layouts. It's what makes some one a layout designer.

 

All I'm seeing lately is layout theft. That's not designing layouts, that's basically stealing some one else's layout, relamping it or not even bothering to do that, then releasing it.

 

Where he 'pinched' it from or from whom doesn't matter, it's the fact he pinched it and didn't do the spade work himself. The spade work that every real layout designer has to go through in order to make a layout.

 

So I apologise if I seem a little harsh but that's just how it is. He asked me about DDB, I pretty much said no and he released it any way.

 

And that f*****g pisses me off. Why should I be doing all of the hard work for some one to just come along and say "Hey look at this layout I made".

 

I've made some dodgy shit layouts of my own in the past, but at least they were mine. I've spent a decade honing my skills in Photoshop and I didn't put in all of that for some one to just steal my layouts and rebadge them.

 

You know for yourself how long they take to make.

So RB gets your permission, or maybe not, to covert a shite bfmulator layout to MFME, but then BB doesn't get your permission to convert the converted layout from MFME to Amber. Even worse he gets it's in the neck for not realising it's yours. I really don't get the problem here. He is using bloody artwork, that's all; and not particularly good stuff either. There are no rules around the quality of layout releases in Amber, so I still don't get it.

The actual amazing, truly astounding part of your post is the admittance to drawing, and subsequently releasing, shit artwork.

No, RB did not get permission 'cos RB didn't ask. 

 

You don't get it because you don't make layouts that involve a good 20+ hours just to get that base image. IE - I'm putting in all of the donkey work and some c*** just waltzes along and decides to make a layout with the artwork I cleaned up. You won't get it either.

 

As for what releases in Amber? I could care less. However, I would rather people created their own images to DX, that's all.

 

Here's a scenario. You're sitting at work and your boss asks one of your colleagues to knock up an advertisement. That colleague comes over to your desk, stuffs all of your work onto a USB stick and then claims it as his own. That's about the best I can do to describe it.

 

As for the artwork being shit? again, you will be confused because you don't understand the subject matter.

 

That machine came from photos. Not digital photos that you shoot with your camera and then copy to the PC but actual paper photos. And they were f*****g terrible. Like, totally and utterly beyond any use at all. That's why DS gave them to me because of how shit they were. The mere fact I even got something on the PC that looked even half of what the machine did took me about five days.

 

It was one of those layouts where I really should not have bothered at all, but, I told DS I would do it.

 

And that's why it's shit. Something people that do not create DX layouts never seemed to understand was that there is only so much a layout designer can do. If you're given shit artwork then there's only so much you can do to get it to a state where a layout can be made from it.

 

And that's why I totally acknowledge that the artwork for this machine is f*****g horrible and always was.

 

One thing I was guilty of in the past was taking on layouts that no one else would have bothered with. Pook, for example, would not touch shit artwork. He would only take huge great scans or flyers he had bought himself.
