Most recent fruit machines payout in £1 coins only, correct?

Therefore, logically, if you were to play ANY modern machine, with shrapnel (10, 20 and 50P pieces), you would eventually exhaust the fruit machines supply of £1 coins. As a result, you could, in theory, empty any machine by starving it of the one thing it needs, i.e. pound coins.

All I ask is this question: Is it feasible (assuming enogh change)?

By my view of things, I would say yes, but I would more than happily be corrected buy someone 'in the know'.

Surely though you would be putting in exactly the same amount of money to get a return, it's just that you would be putting in more coins of a lower value????? :-? :-? :-?

Yeah, it does empty the machine of £1 coins, and it'll give an IOU. It is also true [despite what many so called pros think] that a machine will not play any differently on shrapnel than on £1 coins. The amount of times I've seen people convinced that machines can only play well if you use £1 coins.....

With regards to not being able to grasp the point of this post, at least it poses a kinda sensible question, and isn't a request for an unemulated machine

So, to put it basically - a machine will empty itself if played on anything other than £1 coins [although it may well cost you a couple of hundred ]

The whole basis for the thread is incorrect anyway, it says its an emptier for any machine ever, but there were plenty of machines that took and paid out shrapnel denominations of coins, from 1p upwards.

A good 1p'er with a Big Wheel used to be on Walton on the Naze pier about 20 years ago, which IIRC would only take 1p coins for credit, so how would you empty that?

But to answer the original question, yes it is feasible to exhaust the supply of £1 coins, but you have not emptied the machine, as all your shrapnel will be in the cash box (only the hopper would be empty )

One way to empty the hopper (although not tried it lol) is to turn the machine upside down. All the coins would fall out

Thinking about it, it would then save using a sledge hammer, as you could take of the top (which would now be on bottom) vents/handles and pull coins out. Shame to ruin a fruity back or glass with a sledgehammer!

You would need to be pretty fit to turn one upside down though!

(sorry I'm not posting much atm, I'm doing double shifts, 4 - 12pm or 6 - 2pm then working on my house til 11pm )

Anyway... regarding what ben said about machines don't play different with shrapnel is correct.

howeverm in the old days of 'tubes' it did make a difference, as the tubes had sensors (I think) so if you weren't topping up the £1 or Token tube then it'd play the same now as it does £20 later. (well it did for me anyway lol)

No, IMHO all that happened was the machine played exactly as it would do with full tubes, but used to 'pay out fresh air' - there is actually a machine setting called 'pay out fresh air if tubes empty

I'm pretty sure that on the emulators the machines are always classed as full - that is, the float level may be zero, but the machine will always get a signal from the emulated 'opto' to say that a coin has been paid. If you get an error in an emulation about IOU, chance is that the hoppers/tubes are set up incorrectly, or the payout mech isn't properly supported

the only emptying that happens when you play or try to force fruit machines is emptying your bank account.

Can't fault that RR, over the long term. Did have £3 change in Peterborough, was waiting for the bus - put £3 into Party Time and got £47 from the topbox much to the dismay of the lady next to me

Still, thats about £47 back, considering the amount I've lost in total [say £3000 for arguments sake], not worth trying to get evens

Just to say as well, I still risk about £10 a month, when incredibly bored and waiting for a bus [normally say £3 at a weekend]. At least I can play them sensibly, and am not addicted anymore

Im more confident than ever about quitting this time after losing over £1200 in just 4 mesely visits to arcades. Probably around £20k overall since i started playing.

I f*****g hate fruit machines now, particularly all lo-tech machines. I DESPISE any machine, where if holds light up, you are guaranteed a win, if you get 3 nudges, you are guaranteed a win, wins that drop straight in (with the possibility of up to 3 of the same win in a row)

Wonder what piece of shit machine im waffling on about...?

Last machine I got properly hooked on was the Magic 7s 'Pusher', by Electrocoin and Levy. Crazy machine, managed to make a fair bit on them [I say a fair bit, say £5 from a £10 stake]

Never played the Magic 7s normal AWP though.

I'm guessing the machine in question would be any Astra or Electrocoin of the past couple of years? In fact... Most Lo Techs from about 95 onwards
