Seems to me that many of the really high scores have been set by people that have no interest in fruit machine emulation [often no posts made from their account], but have just come here to get as many high scores as possible to advertise [ I think one site advertised in this way is suchnixe.de ].
Apart from that, theres several ways of getting very high scores :
1) Repetition. If you sit in front of say Yeti Sports games [take the Yeti Baseball one as an example], you can easily get in 100 games of that in an hour or two, and after that long, you expect to get a very good score.
2) Cheating. Not saying that cheating does occur in the arcade, although it is possible. It does however take some pretty werd methods to cheat in the arcade.
3) Being incredibly lucky. It isn't impossible to set a highscore on your first game
There will probably be some changes made to the arcade in the future which stop people from purely coming here to take advantage of the arcade and advertise. To be honest, I don't use the arcade anymore because I am pretty confident I won't get into the top 10 on any games
