Lol yeah, just chancing my luck really.
Don't want to but recent redundancy after many years has forced me to give it a go.
I set it at that price because if it goes then great, and if it doesn't then great :-)

Are you sure that's the real reason? I thought it would be more like you want to get rid before the PC dies on it knowing you would struggle to get a replacement??
And the PC's do tend to be the weakest link with these in the wild, unfortunately.

The PC is going very strongly, plus I have a disk image of the machine on this PC, and also a spare hard drive with the image already installed on and checked as working, so should anything happen, I can easily enough replace any necessary parts of the PC itself.

Good stuff You should be ok then
I don't know what actually fails on them as we just get advanced replacements but I would guess its only the HDD image that fails most the time, as it gets pretty hammered all day long in attract mode.

As per the other thread my mate has just sold his he was a little worried about it blue screening as he didn't have a copy. but he got 4200 for it in the end although that had 9 licensed games on it.
Cant believe people have £4.2k to spend on a home use machine!

If I didn't have a couple of backups of the hard drive I don't think I would be worried, I'd be positively shitting myself! Especially with adding extra games and updating the executive, both of which I've done.
I'd love to have more licensed games, but sadly I haven't - not a lot I can do about that. Well, unless I can do the following -:
1) Get the HASP dongle out of the security cage.
2) Get someone else to get THEIR dongle out of their security cage, get it copied, and give me the copy.
It's pretty unlikely that anyone would do that for me!

I did come up with this idea that software gets hacked all the time... shame someone hasn't hacked the Triple 7 hard drive to make it run all games regardless of where there is a license or not lol

Pretty sure you cant copy a HASP, but it can be moved to another machine?

games come on a USB drive somethig like this -
you purchase a game and barcrest issue a USB stick with your game and most recent EXEC on in. it is accompanied with a USB dongle that has to be inserted if you wish to license your copy (play it in real mode). the dongle has specific information for your machines ID only and cannot be used on any other machine. when inserted and the machine is in license mode, it reads the USB dongle and then the license file is erased afterwards - rendering the dongle useless untill charged again.
this stops you from trying to arm another 777 cabinet with the same game. therefore you need to purchase a new license/dongle if you with to arm another 777 and make the game real mode.
even if you were able to copy the dongle its useless as its rigged with the information for a specific set of machines.
if anything on the above is wrong please feel free to correct. ive just installed inca hoots £500 b3 and used the above system on a T8 machine.

To be honest I'd be more surprised if what you said was wrong - it all sounds pretty much how you'd expect them to protect their software.
I guess hacking the software is the way forward to enable non licensed games lol.
I do know that one game Barcrest issued in Bpak format for the Triple 7 can be installed with no license... which tends to suggest Bpaks could be hacked to remove license necessity from them.
