Hi,
I play a particular fruit machine down one particular pub quite regularly and have won the jackpot maybe seven or eight times on it. Despite having a lot of experience playing it, I have never ever been awarded an extra life.
My question is, could the machine have been setup not to award an extra life? I have (If I can remember correctly) got an extra life off of the same machine in a different pub before. Was wondering if an engineer could alter the settings to make the extra life not available.
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, it has been bugging me.
Cheers.

You can't specifically turn off Extra Life - BUT I did notice that when I ran my Spiker The Biker machine [£25/25p], on 70% payout, it didn't give an Extra Life or an Invincivble Mode for about £600. When I set it to 80%, you could expect an Extra Life more frequently, and plenty of IMs.
What is the percentage payout on it set to [according to the label near the coin mech], and what is the machine called?

Hi Bencrest,
The machine is High Flyer (posted about that one before!). Think percentage is around 72% (may be wrong completely). Thanks for your help though.

if the machine is on a low % then ther is high chance the extra life wont appear that often but there is no way an engineer can turn gameplay features on or off.

Extra life on the like of GBC and clones is really pants and normally means you'll get £4 (if your lucky) and if you dont take that you end up getting f*** all as you on 10/3 it will give you 11/2 and then next up comes the 12/1 ...

you only really got extra life on chipped hf/td/bc/hr.
if its not offering it, it is better really as it may mean it is unchipped against jp on golden hold.

...I didn't know they 'chipped out' Golden Hold JP on those machines - don't see why really.
I DO see why BFM had to chip out the Super Hold 'thing' on say Club Cop The Lot

Could you explain that please? You mean it was chipped out to stop giving JP on golden hold? 8O Wouldnt that be against some kind of rule because its affecting gameplay?

bencrest - club cop the lot doesn't have superhold, only the £25 cop the lot did! would have been nice if both did though. As an aside Extra life's on machines are pretty common on some machines, ie. GBC and clones as you say, vamp it up and clones do quite a bit, red gamings like cobra/x-rated etc.etc. they all do it all the time, although I must add the extra life is SOOOO overated, it seems everyone takes it with glee thinking they will get something good then ( despite multi add often being a better choice on vamp it up and clones - you know why if you play it a lot I cant be arsed explaining ) and then all it does is give you ? lose then the life has gone and suprise suprise you either spin on to a pointless square like +1 cash, then the next move is ? lose. Similaly on hi-lo gambles it soon kills you again after you lose the life.... Take a funny example I always think.... thunderbirds club you get to 4 ko's on the superboard and you have double add so that the next gamble if it wins is JP, you also have the extra life and the number to gamble on is 10..... watch it freeze up when you go lower and there you go, in comes 11, upon going lower than the 11 there's your 12!! Magic

Are you sure? I'm pretty confident it was on most BFMs of that era, including several club machines

yep very sure, used to play out ( for jp ) cop the lot club alot, must have played through a fair few grand ( credits wise ) and I've never once been offered superhold. Infact I cant think of any BFM club machine at that time that did have superhold - unless you have any suggestions.... the only machines the superhold actually worked on was snake rattle and roll, lord of the rings ( the hilo game one not the board game one ), and cop the lot £25, many machines like goldigger etc. had superhold but the trick never worked on them

later chips of high flyer gave extra life more often didnt they? to stop all this golden hold stuff wasnt it?
i think some manu's may have specific dil switches to do stuff like turn extra life off. but its a slim chance they will be used for not giving extra.
lets all blame the % !!
Scorpion Technology + super hold = trouble!

club casino crazy is a classic for giving you a few extra lives before killing you.
