Sorted.
Flashed the Program Card with the correct BIN file to remove the need for a datapak.
Thanks

Hi,
Has anyone come across this message on a Rainbow Riches machine before?
Also does anyone know why both screens are on one?

never fu*k withe screens and never boot from one screen otherwise that happens
since its dual port it then sees one is missing and defaults to one screen. the process is irreversible resulting in a new image being used.

my best guess is that the external dataport/capture device that can be fitted to export the coin/note in and out info.

dataport 7.1 Is dataport error eg it failed to communicate to the datapack

What is a Data Pak, I have a 9pin connection coming from the box at the back but it's not connected.

dataport 7.1 is usually the mpu5 when the mpu5 is in a fruit machine, so I think its more to do with that as the pc wont come up with that error. I presume the status light on the mpu5 is not flashing continuous green? there is a red flash or two now and again? if so its the mpu5 board side

Posted 29 October 2014 - 03:41 PM
Yes, the standard Mk5 out a Rio cab.
Posted 29 October 2014 - 04:03 PM
so how do you reflash the program cards then?
Posted 29 October 2014 - 04:05 PM
I guess you re programme the mpu5 game software with non datapak software?

yes, but how is this achieved?

Copy the correct BIN file to a compact Flash card, switch off the MPU5, put compact flash card into MPU5 and switch on.
the status light should be solid green. press the test button until the status led goes green and red and a bit dim.
once finished the status led will be green, remove compact flash card and restart MPU.
job done!

cheers thanks, I had a feeling it was something like that but had not yet investigated. If you connect a alpha display to the mpu5 it shows the process of what its doing, erasing/programming etc

just tried it, and I just get 'unable to read master boot record', so flash card is formatted to fat, correct bin file is on flash, so what am i missing??
Posted 29 October 2014 - 06:29 PM
Are you using an MPU5 or MPU6?
Posted 29 October 2014 - 06:43 PM
mpu5, e-rio cab!
worked it out, it only works for bootstrap 1.21 (which comes up on the alpha if you connect one) then press red test button and it updates.
does not work for the old section 16 cards running bootstrap 1.16
I guess that's why barcrest supplied new program cards going from S16 to B3 as they had a new bootstrap and not just a new pic for the old cards!

Ah, my one is a B3.
Don't suppose you know much about the coin and note mechs? every time I put a coin in I get error 16.
Posted 29 October 2014 - 07:11 PM
Sounds like its going to be parallel mech and machine wants a serial etc.
