I'm sure we all know that gut tightning feeling after doing your wages/savings in the arcades....

What machine would you turn to to try and salvage some of your
hard earned cash? Taking about machines spanning all decades!

Most of my gaming started in the £2 tokens, £1 Cash days. (Even in those
days you could easily lose your wages in one session). Still the game play was good and you felt you were in with a chance of actually coming out on top.

My choices would be:

Carry On A £2 jackpot (tokens) but used to give plenty of holds on £1

Spellbound £2/£3 jackpot, video type screen, similar to sidewinder, again
lots of holds on the £1 wins

Spotlights £2 jackpot, start/gamble buttons on the side of the cabinet and a huge yellow Autonudge button, gamble would spin the reels to the next win and holds on jackpot and £1 win was very common.

As the jackpots moved up to to a staggering £4.80 my pick of the crop
would be:

Rags to Riches, multiple hold on £4.80 was common, with best being 6 holds (all hidden, reels did not light or flash)

Hi Rise (emulated here) always good for a streak of £30 plus, sometime
up to £50.

£10-15 Jackpot Machines:

Son of Dracula, always good for a £15 plus up to 2 repeats once you forced the red mode on Dracs cash

Temple of Treasure, red feature on TOT guaranteed repeat

£25 Jackpot

Virtually all are pish, with mostly poor streak potential, shit gameplay/enjoyment and they just eat cash, low techs particularly vile...but then maybe its my age and just prefer the more innocent days of fruities!

What about your choices guys?

This may sound totally shocking to some, but I'd actually stick it in a Party Time machine. Last 2 times I've done that, staking £5 in each of the free machines, I've had a top box off one of them, 1st time for £50 and the second time for £15. I may hate them, but they could be funny if you only had a fiver to burn. Certainly pi**ed off the lady on the machine next to me :)

An early 90's JPM such as Money Talks or Indiana Jones. These used to spew JP after JP (especially Money Talks).

my last tenner would now be on partytimes just for the fact you never know you maybe lucky and get the top box which can pay off i was watching my mate the other week playing one and two he put bout 100 in both and had plenty of top boxs but only 2quids and the odd fiver so i put my last 3quid in and got a quid flicked up and done 25 str8 off which really pissed my mate off lol.
but on the older machines i would pick hi lo bingo great machine and paid out well too.

a change machine, but even then you not guarenteed to come out even lol

seriously, maybe perhaps one of the older 5p/£6 tokens machines, such as popeye, viva las vegas indiana jones or rollerocaster. I might not double my money but at least I'd get some enjoyment and playtime from it. I might even hold back a £1 for a bag of chips on the long walk home

Yes, Bencrest has the right mindset. You're down to your last £10, so you might as well play somehting witha bit of UUmpf.

hi-tech |£25 AWps?

I'd plug away on a Viper Jive and squeeze any value out of it for the extra £10. With regular feature entry and lots of nicks and tricks it'd be worth a punt.

Lo-techs? I'd whack it all in a Magic 10 or a Party Time.

Oh yes....Good 'ol Hi Rise...Never saw a machine hold so much for 2 of a kind after nudges and the secret was to take a certain feature (won't spoil it for everyone).... but I whacked this baby in my local arcade in the early 90's.

Cash Counter by Barcrest was fantastic as well...only 10p a go (£4 JP)...but this machine paid out like a c**t before it was chipped and totally ruined. The secret was in the skill. If you don't have this drkhibs then I recommend you download it now. I remember when this was in my local pub...I boasted to the barman that I'd won over £30....and he laughed at me saying it would take it all back. I took all the £1 coins, 50p's and eventually it was paying out in 10p's before it ran out and he switched it off..... :D

Still...I was over £50 up and he still owed me £10 in the bank.....lol
<span style='font-family: Comic Sans MS'><span style='font-size: 12px;'>It's all done in the best possible taste. :bigeyes04:</span></span>

heh, pash dont you get chance to play Red Alert anymore? Well theres plenty of them here in Skegness, they are ok, but I dont play them..

The machine I would play would be some of the simpson games because £1 can give a jackpot quite easily, they give jackpots like I've never seen.. Well simpsons and Homers meltdown do

would have to be a lo-tech i guess, couldnt do a pie.6shooter as not enough money - plus probably done a 50 run anyway, as for barcrest, after sticking a tenner in, i would be thinkning.. hmm only a few more for jp happy. perhaps a jpm, to see if its numbering like cracker and the such. or watch a granny pump a bar-x

i remember seeing this old girl hold after a win, cancel, hold, cancel, hold cancel AND then press start to let the win go.. for the life of me i never guessed why, perhaps a new way of knocking a streak back on a bar-x, found out 1st by an old biddy?
