I personally think everyone should be visible, unless they've got summut to hide. But I don't make the rules and regs.

This has been in place for years....in those years you'd be surprised as-to who visits time-to-time.

 

There are reason's that some wish to remain anonymous other than what you (I presume) are insinuating ?

 

For that reason, I support the ability to remain unseen.

Fair enough Ady - I just can't fathom why someone would want to remain anonymous on a forum about fruit machines. It beggars belief!!

Matty, plain and simple on this one..... chat box is NOT going to come back, due to abuse..... this will NOT change, end of..... this deal as you seam to say in your own words, has NEVER been on the table.

I'm merely pointing out that people wan't it. If it's badly managed that's down to the site. It may have been abused in the past but surely it would be possible to log things so if anything is said it's not insantly lost. That would be one hell of a deterrent to stop people being abusive in there if they knew what was said was logged. If an outdated concept like IRC can do it then surely a sophisticated piece of forum software should be able to.

As above, I'm pointing out what people want, no where in my post did i ask you to implement it. Personally i couldn't care less about it but like you said about being anonymous, people asked so it's worth a shot eh?

That way people know abuse wont go unseen & cut it out. If not they get warned & then given the boot & the site doesn't have to deal with it anymore.

Decision has been made.... the chatbox feature will NOT be returning any time soon if ever..... people want live chat, we already have a chat room enabled for just this thing via the chat tab, or failing that, the old #mpu34 IRC room (Operated for DAD's FME, although anyone is welcome) is still open, with links available via http://www.west-park.tk

Just as a note regarding edit posts button whilst I think about it..... Alex is looking at reintroducing it eventually, however it is still causing some stability issues when it's been used on threads (Some sort of conflict with the sites database), so until this has been sorted, it will not be enabled, until Alex can be sure it will not create issues with the forum stability.

Any chance of linking that on the hotbar at the top? Or even the option of using a web/java based IRC client to join on? I assume that will please the masses if the existing shoutbox isn't coming back.

At the moment as the forum server software is still a bit unstable (See my last post), will have to suffice for using the tab marked CHAT on every page of this site for the time being for this sites main chat room.

The IRC room @ DAD's, check the following page, which shows you all the connection info if you want to use a stand alone IRC client, or use one of the two provided web clients..... the best web client, is the "alternative link", although I do have my Java one on standby too.....

Please note, the MPU Mecca room is no longer available (I need to edit this when I get time).....
