Since I joined the forum a week or so ago, I've been modifying the JPM Royal Flush 1280 Cab.  I love playing these machines but using the keyboard becomes a right pain after a while.  I find it a much better experience to play them totally with the mouse.  So I began to tune it up.

I'm not too sure if this is allowed, frowned upon or welcomed -- so I thought I'd just upload the screen-grabs and detail what I've done.   The mods are complete and all zipped up ready to upload -- but I thought I'd check here first.  Anyway, here's the details:

Original Version by duplu

Modified Version

Mods:

Back Drop
Coin Entry
Button Surrounds
Button Position & Config.
Lower Front & Side Struts
Coin Return
JPM Logo Relocate
Artwork Retouch (Due to Scaling)

If admin can let me know if it's okay to upload the zip file, I'll chuck it up.

I personally dont see why not as you've credited the author.. but leave that to the others to decide..

it's ok for you to do this for your own pleasure but as for editing someone's work and uploading it is a big no.no in the fme community afaik, there's been many a discussion regarding members uploading layouts where they've only amended parts of the layout. I see you've got an interest and a talent with photoshop etc, why don,t you make a fresh layout we need newbie creators . back to this machine there is a perfectly good layout with the correct buttons, reels and coin slot by tommy c

I think we should be celebrating anyone who has the drive and skills to improve existing layouts. Like Nick has said tho the original author need a to be credited and also gained permission from before editing. The more people here who have photo editing skills the better and we certainly shouldn't be discouraging it. That's just my thoughts anyway. I think this layout looks really good even tho not exactly how the original machine looked. Daz has already said this particular layout was for his own personal collection anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it.  for me its about playability versus authenticity.  The visual I uploaded is just that - a visual.  Without sounding too up my own ass --- if you played the original for say 5 minutes, then played my modified version --- there's no way you'd go back to the original.

I'm hugely thankful for this site and the original creator --- its a building block to be worked upon.

I'd like to think that someone, at some-point, would want to build upon my revision.   I'd be more than happy to include the *.PSD inside the ZIP file.  It's all about progress.

Heck, if some guru didnt command the engineer to code the original ROM which went onto a PCB which years later got ripped via an EPROM reader and emulated --- you wouldn't be reading this.

Let's Progress!
