Recently downloaded the 1024 dx version of this. I enjoy playing this lots but have a question. In the read-me file, it says the ` button is used to cancel/collect. When I try to collect a win by pressing this button it does not work though. Tried all the other buttons on the keyboard to no avail. Anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Also, should it be possible to be able to use the cancel method on this machine in order to slow down say the 'Taxi' and 'Skill-stop' bonuses for example?

I trust you're pressing the correct key (left of the number 1 on the top row)



what you'll need to do is to go into design at the top and select EDIT MODE

now if they've set up the buttons correctly (the lit buttons) right click on the button (or if it has it's own buttons right click on that one)

the CANCEL button then select PROPERTIES.

it'll have a box saying shortcut key.... it should read 0xdf for the ` key.

if it doesn't or it's black click in the box and press the ` key then click on APPLY. now take it out of design mode and click on DESIGN, then LAYOUT, then SAVE LAYOUT.

now when you load it it'll work for you.

From memory you get this problem if your Windows is set to 'US Keyboard Layout' rather than 'UK Keyboard Layout'. To be honest, if you are happy with the way your keyboard is, you may as well just change the shortcut as shown above

Gave it a go but messed it up. Heres what I did:
1 - Loaded MFME1.1 and loaded dx layout into it.
2 - Went into Design then Edit Mode (red bar appears at top of layout).
3 - Right clicked mouse while cursor is over cancel button on layout and selected properties.
Then all I see is details relating to the lamp - could not see box saying about short cut key. Sorry to be a pain, probably made a stupid mistake, but can't quite see where.

Think that is the problem Bencrest. It did cross my mind but as the key prints the ` symbol in the American-English setting thought it would probably be ok.
Recently reformatted my computer due to ad-ware problem and can't seem to set up my keyboard for Britain. Windows ME tells me a file cannot be found and then instructs to put the Windows CD in the drive. I do that, but it seems to want me to enter some sort of prompt so that it can link to the CD and find the relevant file. Can't get it to read from the CD for some reason which is annoying.
Don't know if anyone understands what I am going on about or not though......

please don't tell me you haven't downloaded MFME 2.0 yet. :evil:

can't remember how it used to work on MFME 1.1 I thought it was the same, they may have just set it as a lamp and not an actual button.

I'll download it now and get back to ya.

[edited] just downloaded a 'few' versions they all seem ok, looks like bens idea of the 'american layout' may be your problem.

to set it, go into control panel and select keyboard, you should be able to set it from there.

Ah, think you hit the nail on the head. You can't left click on the cancel/collect button on the layout to operate it (entire control is via keyboard presses), so I guess it is only utilised as a lamp. That makes sense I think.

Think I did have MFME version 2.0 before I reformatted my computer, presume this can play all 1.1 releases ok then? Should have mentioned about the keyboard thing when I first posted - sorry it slipped my mind at the time. Thanks DaemonX for all your help though

The key will be hidden off screen somewhere, follow these instructions from the knowledgebase (pretty much the same as daemon said above but written by me. haha) http://www.fruit-emu...iewtopic&t=3475

It should help you out but if it doesn't i am sure somebody can modify the shortcut and send the layout to you.
