Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue......

These machines seem very simple, and the game is simply pressing a button to spin a ball around, trying to land on a lit section.

The button is a special "skill" button, with a deep press.  The instructions say a firm (deep) press should make the ball spin a long way, and a slight/short press should make it spin a little way.

(there is also a FAST/MEDIUM/SLOW light that comes on, but that is not relevant to this).

Anywya, on my machine the skill button seems to work oin reverse - ie; a slight press makes it spin a long way, but a firm press spins only a little.

There are two wires connected to the skill button - I tried reversing these, in case they were wired the wrong way round, but it made no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I could fix this, or what might cause the problem?

The actual button assembly moves a long piece of plastic with sections cut out through what looks like two opto sensors.  It looks in good condition with nothing broken etc.

Any help appreciated!

Many thanks, Mark

These were part of a range brought out after the banning of AWPs in non-licenced public places. Unfortunately I know just about nothing about them.

I doubt I can help but nevertheless some images of the machine and the inside in particular would be interesting and appreciated.

By coincidence just seen this one on Ebay near me.

Apparently it uses Pluto tech.

Hi, thanks for that, I'll upload some pics over the weekend in case there is anything obvious that I've missed :)

Yes, that's the same machine on eBay - they are nice looking machines, and a good size too :)

Cheers, Mark

Hi Markjbevan, I believed you messaged me on ebay regarding this issue.

I would imagine it is something as simple as either the sensor being plugged in the wrong way round or the sensors being the wrong way round.

I havent looked in great depth at how this works but it obviously isnt a switch, so must be some kind of sensor.. Try and take a picture as unfortunately mine has been on ebay for so long ive decided to put it at the back of the warehouse until it sells lol.

HI Nick,

Yeah that was me, thanks for the reply - if it is an issue I can't resolve, I'm looking at getting another to replace it.

I agree it sounds like something connected the wrong way round, so I gently disconnected the two connectors that go to the switch and reversed them, but it didn't make any difference.

Then I decided to check the diagnostics... a slight/gentle press of the skill button registers sw 1 or sw 2, however a hard/firm press registers sw 10- sw14.  A medium press is somewhere in the middle.

So that would suggest that the button IS ok, as it makes sense that a gently press would register a low switch number, and a harder press would be a higher switch number.  I was expecting it to be the other way around, but I suppose it is possible that 1 = hard and 14 = soft?

My next job will be to try and follow the button wiring back to the PCB, and see if anything is reversed there - and see if I can swap it around.

Failing that, I will investigate getting another as I think they are nice machines, and I love the fact that the top can be removed from the base - I wish AWP's were like that too!

THanks again, Mark
