Best Answer fruitmachine13, 08 June 2015 - 10:01 PM

The circuit board with the battery damage to the C8 and chip can be repaired but would cost more then a new one

Hi All,

Got a JPM snakes and ladders.

Switch the machine on and 90% of the time I get nothing, the coin mechanism still sorts the coins etc but the screen etc is dead.

The other 10% of the time the reels twitch for about 10 / 20 minutes and eventually the machine starts, but everything is reset and I get an error for changing the win percentages, which have never been changed.

Whats wrong with it? Best idea I have is the processor board, I've attached a photo of a leaking battery (still good on the multi meter). Some of the contacts have corroded below the battery.

If this is the issue, where can I purchase another board?

Thanks,

Richard

Yes, the leaking battery has killed the processor board.

Getting decent working ones these days is not easy.

Just to add though that I've seen much worse damage on these, it might be worth taking off the battery and cleaning the tracks up and checking them with a multimeter to see if there is any obvious break in continuity.

Green legs on ic next to C8 and tracks around processor socket look knacked.... They will be eaten under said socket also.

Unless you are good at repairing pcb's then a new processor card is required... Working = best part of £60 delivered.

Many machines of this era now being offered up free or a low price due to the scarcity and the price or replacing the battery eaten boards....

Unless people know what they are doing repair-wise then it is pretty much pointless getting them or buying them as they cost a fortune to get back running.

Ah yes I missed that green legged chip - I thought the damage was all just in the battery corner.
It is indeed knackered beyond likelihood of repair.

Cheers guys for your responses!

A friend has some equipment to repair PCB's, but it still looks a nightmare...

I'll keep my eye out for a new processor card, if anyone has a working one they want to sell please let me know! :)

Thank you,

Richard

Could also try bridge it with wire.

So hard to get. I needed one for ages! Ended up buying another working machine for the card.

Andrew96, make me a PCB!!!! haha.

I've searched high and low for a new one, no luck. So I've got a couple of PHD students from University to repair this one... I'll let you know how it goes!

Cheers guys,

Richard
