Hey guys, first off I hope I am posting this in the right section.
I have a red gaming rocket money machine (mpu5) and it's just stopped working with a fault in reel 3. (Alarm code 23). I've cleaned the sensor and swapped the reel connections around (the fault followed the reel, I swapped it to reel 2 and this caused a reel 2 fault)
Would anyone have any advice on what actions I should take next?
Thanks all!

Having narrowed it down to a fault on the reel somewhere, the easiest next step is to try a complete replacement reel unit.
If you take a photo I can see if I have one I can send you, won't be too expensive.

Have you tried swapping just the optical sensor to see if the fault moves with it?

I haven't, the best I've done is to 5ake the sensor out and clean it. Shall swap them about later and report back! Thanks!

I'm guessing you have checked that the reel opto TAB is still in place as these have been known to snap off.
With what you have already done it can only really be 4 things.
1. motor failed.
2. Opto failed/ failing or dirty
3. opto TAB missing, snapped off.
4. Bad wire connection.
3 and 2 seem most likely at this stage.

Update, swapped the opto sensors and the fault followed the sensor. So I shall wage good money that the sensor has failed. Any ideas as to where to get a new one?

I would just buy any other MPU5 reel and take the sensor of that one. or put your reel 3 reel band on the new reel. May be easier to source a second hand reel than just the sensor. There are several on ebay at the min

Ive had a few omeron sensors just 'go' no real reason behind them they do just break like any other componant can.
Like AA says, there pence to buy and it will cure the problem as long as its for the REEL5 Unit that MPU5 machines use.
I changed one on an impact Crazy Club (JPM) and the machine worked but the reel was completly out of alignment, they do, do different types of sensor but all MPU5 ones are the same.

Need to find a supplier for the sensor as I can't appear to find one

Unfortunately the only ones I seem to be able to find at the moment are Bell Fruit ones.
