Hi, I am a new member and would really appreciate any help somebody could offer.   I am not a fruit machine collector or have any knowledge of fruit machines.   I own an Elvis Top Twenty B3 in a Rio cabinet.  I only have the machine as I am a big Elvis fan and this is my pride and joy.  I purchased the machine many years ago and probably paid far too much for it ( £1500 ) but at the time you could not get one anywhere and I was desperate for one.   It has never given me any problems since owning it, but now the problems begin...

I moved house and had to lay the machine down for the move.  After getting the machine into my new house and leaving it stood back up for about six weeks until the room was ready for it.  It was stored inside in the warm.    When I switched the machine on it all seemed Ok and started up and top screens showed video for about 6 seconds and then stopped.    Now  whenever I switch it on it has message on top screen saying monitor OK and floating message on lower screen.    I have unplugged every connector and replugged in (with power off) and still the same thing happens.    Four power leds on MPU5 are on and top 'start up' led is constantly flashing.

I have tried looking everywhere on the internet and no real help found.   Some seem to suggest battery??  and others suggest MPU5 or RAM ??   or new image required.    Not sure what any of this really means but am willing to purchase any parts required but would like a suggestion in which direction to start.   Thanks in advance for anybody who can offer some advice.   Regards,  Chris.

First I would try with the machine on and with MPU5 on etc  try pressing the switch on the PC  a few times  and see if that kicks the PC in as  sounds like the PC isn't booting, it could have died, or on its way out but I had one on site for a long time that every morning I had to do what ive just described and it would be ok for the rest of the day so worth a try.

Failing that sounds like your gonna either need a new PC or at the very least get the HDD re imaged.

the message is a self test, and is only displayed when the monitor is on and no video feed is being received.

this nails it down to the PC. but you need to open the door up and start the machines and listen if the PC has fired up. if it has then the graphics card would most probably be loose/come out of the pci-e card.

otherwise the PC simplying isnt booting. check that the power lead is firmly in place and press the reset switch located on the bottom part of the pc. if its still not booting then you need a PC guy to find the fault.

we could list them here, but its a bit of a bug hunt for you.  try sending us pics/video of the whole procrss so it can be nailed down.

Hi, Thanks ever so much for taking the time to reply.   I pressed the reset button the computer many times and made no diference.  Took pc out and removed cover and tried plug in cards to see if loose but all in tight.   Put pc back into machine without cover and put hand on hard drive to see if operating and switched on machine... To my amazement the machine started up and worked a treat.   I have switched on and off a few times and put many coins through and perfect.

I cannot believe it as I have taken pc out a couple of times and pushed plugs in tight and made no diference.   I can only assume it was the cards in pc either dirty or just needed moving a little bit ????

This has been a nightmare and really been troubling me for ages as I did not want to throw the machine away.   I can't thank you enough for taking the effort to reply.  You have made me really happy.

As a side question, does anybody know if sound can be switched on in the attract mode. ie when machine is standing idle and video of Elvis singing etc on top screen.  It would be nice to hear him singing.    I seem to remember old fruit machines in pubs used to do this to 'attract' people to a machine standing in the corner.   ( I have all sound when machine is being played)

Many many thanks,  Chris

Hi, A further note to my above topic.    Has anybody got the Elvis smash hits bpak files.    As already stated in my post, I am a huge Elvis fan, and now got into this site, and did not realise this could be added to the machine.    It would be great if it could be played in 'real' mode but a demo mode version would do if thats all available.   Either a download or will pay for CD/USB version. (or pay for download if req'd)              Still wondering about 'attract mode' sound ???

Many thanks,  Chris
