Ive done the windows 10 upgrade and it killed my system. i heavily suspect that it couldnt update the MBR and also accommodation the OCZ drivers for the revodrive 3 x2

lucky for me i did a full backup just before i pressed upgrade - however...

Your upgrade is ready to install - save your work blah blah blah      #schedule it for later#   #start the upgrade now#

in other words all the files are on my windows 7 system, but i wish to cancel and remove the files, but there is no option for it?

Hi Nails,

Not an exact solution, but I would think that scenario 2 here:

http://winsupersite....our-reservation

would probably achieve what you're looking for...

sorted m8, i uninstalled the KB3038853 and then, after successfully stopping the upgrade process, ran the disk clean tool

nice one!

No probs - I suppose that Microsoft never thought anyone would not want to upgrade :)

To be honest, it really isn't as bad as all the gossip that I have heard about it...

I have it running as smooth as silk on both my iMac (Bootcamp partition) and on my HP Pavilion touchscreen laptop after an upgrade from Windows 8.1.

Both have NEVER ran into any problem since I have had Windows 10 on them.

Each to their own I suppose... I know I would ALWAYS sooner have Windows XP above all of them, but this version is certainly a case of 'better the devil you know' ;)

im sure win10 is fine, its just im using a revodrive3 x2 which is a raid card.

windows 7 cannot read from this without installing drivers (which is odd because the computer itself sees the device on startup and goes straight to it).

windows 10 is supposed to have these drivers buit-in, but alas after the upgrade there are several reboots and at this point windows errors appeared such as device is unavailable.

cut short i placed an image back over it of win7, removed the said update and everything is fine again in the nails camp.

one day i shall have to update, but it will have to be a clean install :(

Why XP over Windows 7? I skipped over Windows Vista upgraded from XP straight to Windows 7 and have skipped over Windows 8 and hoping Windows 10 is worth upgrading to I'm going the 64bit route and just know it's gone be a pain in the ass with hardware device driver compatibility but VMWare's latest released versions will only run on 64bit computers and I like their software

These days I'd say you'd have more issues with finding 32-bit drivers unless you had ancient hardware.

Anyhoo, if you want more than 3.5GB RAM (total including video) then it's a must anyway :)

Nostalgic reasons, especially with MFME synth sounds for the emulators...

I would've thought that with all the various accounts you've had here over the years - you'd have realised this! ;)

hmm, the upgrade came back. right the point where it says scedle later or install now. ive deleted 3 KB updates and disabled updates. whilst it has offically stopped it, its also stopped updates full stop.

im considering a couple of fast SSD cards in a raid and be done with the revo card :(

bye bye 1.3TB per second :(

Microsoft are aggressively pushing the Windows 10 update to all available computers that qualify to run it, whether you want the Upgrade or not...

It is hidden in this folder: '$Windows.~BT' (without apostrophes)

Apparently there are certain groups who are considering taking Microsoft to court for invasion of privacy and also claiming compensation for actually downloading the upgrade to the hidden folder and it has taken all their monthly data use on their internet!

Hi Nails,

Out of interest, did you tell Windows Update not to install KB3038853 after uninstalling it (IE by hiding it from the list of available updates)?

If not, then doing that should prevent it from returning...

Just found out today, after upgrading yesterday, that Windows 10 is incompatible with Talk Talk email on Outlook 2013. I can receive email but can't send any out. What an absolute tit. I am well fucking miffed. I left it a few months so shit like this would be sorted. Apparently Microsoft "know" it is an issue and are working on a fix.

Surprisingly it only took me 1/3rd of the time to restore to previous installed version then it did to upgrade to the latest. It probably won't help but Microsoft Office 2016 was released just last week maybe it's supported on that?

After posting I found a suggestion that running an sfc scannow might fix it. So started the scan and 3/4 of an hour later I fired up Outlook and my mails were sending. Thanks for the advice though.

basically the update had gone as far as i accepted it but not pressed reset to upgrade. at that point i did (thankfully) a backup. since ive accepted it, uninstalling those updates seems futile.

My reliable, cheap to run old printer no longer works on 10.
