to all my fruit machine pals i have found the machine of my dreams but i simply can't get her going

the symptons

  Sorry i pushed the return too soon - Road to Wembley by bell fruit on scorpion 2. The machine has a good PSU, new batt on the main board and the scorp 2 board came from another machine but was serviced by bell fruit as good. Put game card in and noticed sound ROM had two end legs missing (there is no remnant in original board so wondering of they were ever present). when i power up green led to main board and it says on display rom check tbc

  continued Road to wembley fault - ram check and then meter check. it then goes straight to the game cartridge number i think 750-653 wemb. i can't do anything else from there. when i put the game cartridge in another scorp (cops n robbers) it plays but obviously not proper due to reels etc. if oi put the scorp board from the cops into motd it is the same fault. please help andy 07788214023 
• sos the reels all judder twice and optics seem good.
• it doesn't get to lamps illuminating although i know they work when i put another game cartridge in. 
• this has really stumped me as there are hardly any other boards in the machine other than those around coin op.  could it be a meter fault that simply stops it booting

The ROM with missing pins has to be the main cuprit... Get someone to burn you a known good one, try that and see what happens.

To what extent does the cartridge play when you put it into the other machine?

i agree with alex new roms  but i would try using to other legs of another rom and dropping aspot of solder on to join ive done that before and its worked

Yep true, or pieces of stiff wire can be soldered on. It's tricky though.

Machine should run without any sound ROM in at all, so remove it from the board that doesn't boot, and try again,

 

Just going to have a look to see if I have the sound ROM

First and foremost i would like to thank you all so much for inviting me into the forum and your kind words.  For any of you out there Paul Burton has been a fantastic help and is highly recommended.

So we sussed it a machine stuck in a cold garage for twenty years is running - just need a pack of new bulbs.  I bought a willem burner followed your advice and soldered a tag on and then downloaded image.  Paul was kind enough to send me MOTD rom also.

The sound correlation to gameplay is a little strange in that it repeats a sequence of voiceovers. no motd music is heard but it does do des lyneham / john motson. 

When it comes to the excellent nudges nudges nudges blah blah it simply says slow motion when you nudge and not nudges.  sounds slightly corrupt but the voice is clear if that makes sense.

​any ideas anyone got the road to wembley roms for a tenner jackpot.

i'm stoked - i love it as a game and it's a keeper - thanks again Paul and the rest of the family.  Images / Rom data would be top - kindest Andyb
