Hi as you all know I've a £70 machine which is now on £35 due to me killing the other ROMs, of which I now have a fresh set again. Anyways back to the question in hand as said machine is currently on £35, in the manual it says if its on £5jp I need a float of 50x£1's and £20 worth of 10ps. As its for my own use would I still need 10ps or could I just collect level £1 if I do need 10ps where would I put them as there's only one coin hopper and a note hopper and lastly would I really need that many 10ps would a couple of Quid's worth be sufficient same as £1s would I really need 50.

I could be wrong but would it just not round up the amount if there is only one hopper as a bonus?

Also you could just start playing without any float at all, it would just IOU I assume if you collected more than what was in the hopper.

If the only hopper is for £ coin, then the machine would normally round up to the nearest pound.

You may find though, if the machine is programmed to pay 10ps  (Hence why the manual says to float it with 10ps) then you may need a dual hopper installing. Not sure though

Yer the manual does state a certain amount of tens what if I rounded the wins to a pound.
Anyways not that important atm its only when the pounds go out, if I'm to keep the machine then it could still use old £1's as would only need about £30 float as can transfer credit/winnings but needn't worry myself for at least two years. Thanks again for All information.

Got a small or major problem
Right I changed jackpot level to £5 but all I get now is payunit error 17 probs due to no 10p hopper so changed roms to the £70flat version still got the error, another problem I knocked the battery off the main board but do I actually need a battery on there because it still powers up and reels spin etc but fails to go to price of play info, then alarms payunit etc
Please help.

Have you tried changing everything back again?

It shouldn't need a battery but without one you can expect Memory Reset Errors - which should just time out.

How have you managed to "knock" the battery off? Hopefully you haven't damaged any other components on the board because the batteries are usually fixed tight. With the battery removed, have you tired leaving machine off for around 15 mins plus (to make sure machine totally forgets its memory) and turn it back on again with £70 kit on. ?? Perhaps its still looking for the hopper from when you set it to £5 JP. ? Just a guess

I read a topic on here about shorting the battery but the metal connecting the battery and board snapped off no damage to underneath it. As for machine being off for a while not tested that yet, been out for several hours so will switch on when back in a hour or so and report back. Back to the battery can this be re connected and soldered back on?

You'd be better to get a new battery, solder wires onto the stumps of the legs or through the holes left in the board, thus mounting the battery well away from the board.

Can you take a good image of the battery area? As Jamie says above, if you've managed to knock off the battery you may well have damaged the board...

Right I pulled all plugs from board and reset them as couldn't actually take the board out to re attach battery. Switched machine on it now says "cleared ram" obviously due to no battety present on main board check coin hopper as far as I Can, it's clear coins go through into either £1 hopper or drop to bottom but still after a few mins says error 17.
It initialises as Normal but when it gets to machine name/profile I.e jjewels flat it won't go to displaying the stake/jackpot then attract mode??? Just bleeding error17, I wish I never altered the jackpot level in that test mode now.

The problem is it's become difficult to diagnose due to the multitude of things that you've done or changed.

You probably need to ask someone nearby if you can borrow a good working board so that you can establish if the error is now being caused by yours.

Cheers again for the reply as said all I did originally was change the jackpot to £5 it must still think there's a 10p hopper missing, even though the battery's now missing it still powers up. It's as if it can't workout what stake/JP it's on.
Another thought, I've put the ROMs Mr reflex sent me to place the other £70 ROMs I killed what if they were blank? I have left the gamecard out as well maybe it could still be getting some memory from that. Seams odd if I can get it to attract then I could GOTO test mode.
Been scouring the net for answers but nowt comes up yet, still searching!!

Same old, same old!

Plus I agree with the borrowing a board option.

It's stated that all he did 'originally', was change the jackpot value, (knowing full well that the manual said it needed a 10p hopper to work on this setting) no mention of the fact that he 'knocked the battery off' Christ knows how he managed to do this, as you usually need an iron or wire cutters, likewise no mention of the possible scorch mark you pointed out.

Advice has been given, by the looks of it on the whole ignored, (see the scouring the net comment) and things seem to going nowhere.

I can't see the point of asking for help if you're only going to carry on messing about with stuff and not take on board the advice given.

There are no better places than here and the Mecca IMHO, to get it sorted, so why bother looking elsewhere?

It will only end up worse and worse because of the messing, till eventually something goes BANG!

Right then, progress has been made!
I put the other roms I got sent in and voila it initialised ok it loads up a lot slower maybe due to no battery atm but it accepts all coins and plays.
Only big problem is the payout, yes you've guessed it when you collect it's error 17 a gain, although I can transfer winnings and play em off. I tested the yellow four circle thingy in the hopper by turning it and out plopped a quid or two.
I read on various topics that the hopper motor maybe wearing out if so how do I check this? Do I take the yellow coin holder out?
Thanks again for All advice given so far.
