Clean the opto. It's inside the slot in the hopper disk, when you take it out of the plastic casing.

I'm thick as everyone knows lol I take it that's that yellow circle thingy in the £1 hopper what about anything else underneath it?

The opto is where the coin passes out of the hopper. Its a little sensor that detects when the coin has passed. Check where the coins exit the hopper dial and make sure its clean and un-obstructed

There's two little red lever type things the coin passes over it then plops out . thing is there appears to be no way to take anything out to chec, whether it's right or wrong I did put a spot or two of wd40 on it but it still won't payout. Also found the machine always says hopper empty when switched on maybe due to no battety on board. apart from all That it plays still.

still erroring no17 took the £1 hopper thingy out and cleaned the slot where the coin comes out etc also tried a spare one I had when I bought the machine both still gives error, when I turn the hopper by hand the pound pings out so that works ok, is there any way of clearing this problem elsewhere. tried test mode but you can,t clear errors that way.

Update on this problem, thought I'd try the dump hopper again if it errored I would then change to the other pound hopper over anyways I took cover off again and undone the payout plug on the main board and replaced it again something I done already and voilà it dumped the hopper, so pressed topped hopper again as the machine resets the ram due to no battety on main board, shut doors and now or at least when I last played it it now collects pounds normally. Also noticed after clearing ram it starts up a lot quicker as well. So God knows what I actually done lol.
