I hadn't spoken to DT in over 18 months, was getting a bit worried as we used to speak once every few months. Then on Saturday we had some time to catch up, he liked what I had done with the JPM core, and agreed to let me have EPEE.

 

There's work to be done to get it running just right, but it runs all tested roms so far even if it is a bit jerky atm. But I'm currently just working through all the bits, I'll have a good debug once all the peripherals are in.

 

At present it locks up after 1 spin, but as there is no sound chip yet it's probably that as this is a pretty common symtom with no sound.

 

I'll post updates as it comes together, I hope to get the sound sorted tonight.

 

Now I need a bit of help, does anyone have a manual for Simspons?

It's very helpfull in and of itself. But I'd really like the specific Simpsons one too.

Well, I've found that whilst maygay machines run a bit jerky, Impulse games run seemingly ok. Still an issue that needs addressing but for now it'll do. I'll get a Global game going at some point, anyone got a preprepared global layout?

Reels now do not judder when stationary.

I've found the door switches. I just need to find the Test button now to access the test modes.

I've started getting a YMZ280B together. I've already got the decoding in the sound tool so it shouldn't take too long to get it working.

Then I need to hook up the meters, tubes, coin mech, hoppers, LEDs, and the remaining switches (doors, refill, etc).

A week or so should see it running smoothly with all the bits connected.

Yo guitar, if DT's working on this, any glory on accessible screenreader issues? Epoch is on its way again, bring on Simpsons, spin on it and Homer's Meltdown with real sounds! Any chance of a Youtube video so I can hear an Impulse game running? You really, are, amazing!!!! Feels like Summer here already!

Just to clarify, DT isn't working on this, he just shared his code from EPEE to give me a major boost. That's not to take away from his contribution, it's a huge help, definitely the lions share of the work, but he's not activly working on this at present.

 

I will be posting a video as soon as I have something worth videoing, it's a bit buggy and jerky atm. I hope it wont be too long, it's damn close.

How about taking on the work he put into emulating Electrocoin tech?   I know years ago he was looking at code based around the z80 chip, maybe he'd be prepared to help out there too.

I have all I need for Bar-X mk1+2 when the time comes, I am still wary of emulating electrocoin.

 

But I have my hands full with epoch atm, then getting the editor finished, then integrating MPU4. And that gets us to release 1.

Beyond that MPU4 Video and Castle are next up. In that order.

 

And beyond that we'll see how the landscape looks when we get there. (Proconn is a tech I'd like to do the full Guitar makeover on)

Here we go then, here's a video.

 

The reels are wrong, the lamps aren't in the right place, the front end is still hideous, and in typical fashion the machine didn't give me a single feature during the video.

 

However it is Epoch and I keep getting asked for a vid.
