It's very helpfull in and of itself. But I'd really like the specific Simpsons one too.

I had a look but I can't find one, sorry. I probably sold it or gave it away with a machine.

Yo guitar, please, please!! PM me that vid? Dailymotion is a pain in the arse with screen readers and has no MP3 converters! Thanks for the bud, wise, err, coors! Love it, and you actually got on the board! Get in! Can't wait to be a tester ...

The video is uploaded to the FE Facebook page, and should autoplay on most devices. Not sure if that helps.

OK aaamusements, but I wanted to dropbox it to my mate Sarah. Or at least can I have the sound roms? I'll export them in sound tool.

Yo guys, found a free dailymotion to MP3/MP4 converter, I managed to dropbox the sounds to my mate this way but she can't see the vid. 3 weeks time ... I'll be going to the Warner Bros. Studio tour, the making of Harry Potter! I get a free audio guide (usually £95), and hands-on all props! Don't know about the ones in glass cases, I hope I get to, but probably not. So excited! And now Epoch is almost done? I want to jump for joy! Just wish Amber was more accessible as I wish to test it when available... MFME works great for now, just anti-Epoch!

The core now seems to be doing what it's supposed to in terms of interpreting the instructions, now to get the speed right. Oh goody, another trawl through each opcode checking the values off.

Then finally I can finish the tech off.

A quick note to those now prepping artwork for layouts...

The emulator compares the on image and off image pixel by pixel and checks to see if they match. If they do not match then it assumes it's part of a lamp, if they match it assumes it's part of the background.

Because of this you need to do any brightening, darkening, or resizing BEFORE you lamp. Otherwise the emulator cannot use the auto lamp sizing, and when the advanced shader is introduced it will need to be redone for compatibility.

Max image size in either dimension is 4096.

Thats what i do with my art most times anyway, we wont be getting many super size layouts wiyh th flyers we ha e so for, for epoch. They are grainy and pretty low quality, best I've seen so far is gridrunner.

That could be a problem for the small screen, unless of course Amber resizes the layout's to fit the screen before you lamp the final artwork up within the emulator maybe using the scroll option,in which case even I can make jumbo layout's lol.

Another question, the alpha displays, can you get Amber to make them more realistic like the mfme ones maybe we can edit the alpha displays like mfme, as the alphas in Amber 1 didn't, look like they should. And will the note acceptor's be working in amber?

Amber can take layouts of ANY size up to 4096*4096 and will alowing scaling, scrolling, or scaling and scrolling in order to fit smaller screens.

You can indeed replace the alpha in Amber2 (and you could in Amber1). There was a bug in Amber1 which is what made it unreadable when scaled. I have found and fixed this in Amber 2 so it should be ok with the default alpha this time. That being said, you can still edit the alpha if you wish but it doesnt work quite the same way as MFME. We'll cover that at a later date.

As for note acceptors, it's something I do intend to cover, but it wont be in the initial release. But all the coin handling frameworks within Amber2 have provision for notes so it shouldn't cause too many issues when I get to them.

Edit to add: Heres a pic of simpsons scaled down to 1024 * 768. Alpha still perfectly readable.

Well, that's that then. Epoch now running smooth as silk, at the right speed, doing the right things.

Just the coin handling to add (coin mech, hoppers, tubes, meters), and its done.

I've sorted the 6 reel board, had a bit of an optimize, checked ALL the opcodes for correct timing and operation, fixed the sound which was a little buggy.

Also I've found a way of running the reels properly, so they dont jiggle when still, but do the judder when you get holds or on the feature. Much harder to work out than it seems, Epoch is a bit special in terms of reel drive, compared to all other techs Ive done.

I've made the lamp colors work so the simpsons logo can go red now.

And finally reworked the timer so it, um, works. 10 days to get Epoch sorted, not bad going, and in the process Ive been bug fixing the editor as I build the Simpsons layout to everything is coming together nicely.

I know Epoch held things up for a couple of weeks, but remove that from the equation and I am still on target for a release end of April / early May.

I'll do a video later so you can see the progress for yourselves.

I have a question now. Does anyone have a real machine with a dot matrix alpha display, rather than the segmented display?
I need to know the chip ID from the alpha driver chip. That way I can get the alternative alpha running for later machines.

Does this help at all? Sorry, but I no longer own an epoch machine but this is a pic from the dot matrix display that was in there. (Reel good time)

I know there are a few different REV versions of the Dot matrix display too, unsure of the differences but Im sure I've tried the wrong version before and it has not worked.

So I take it I will still be able to produce layout's on a laptop for Amber but I can make em big, so in theory I'll be doing 1600+ wdxs of which obviously due to my res I'll see em as the standard 1024 unless I scroll the layout but someone with a bigger monitor will get the same layout but bigger? On the other post it's great to see this epoch progress, probs pushing it for my B day lol.

I think my reflex machine (2008) has a dot matrix alpha, well the segments are little squares
Numbers on it are, serial number 344322, K629C2
Other numbers- GU192X16F GU96X8M
Hope this helps!!

I wonder ;)

Like I said before, it would be nice just to see a single and stable platform.

I have total respect for all Guitar 'has' and 'is' doing trying to get  running, but all I read is "I have done this and it's ready....just add x, y and z...oh it's now buggered".

This ISN'T healthy for FME in the slightest.

Can't it be worked on with the creator and a few select members as testers 'till it's running?
