After further investigation I have discovered why the AMD resource monitor is flicking between 0 & 18%.

Modern GPU's downclock themselves when not under heavy load in order to use less power and prolong the life of the components. Slower clocks use less power, so they can supply a lower voltage, which generates less heat.

When running Amber it is using 18% of the downclocked core, or 0% of the high clocked core.

In the zip file is a csv file with the usage readings in if you care to look at an accurate set of readings over time.

But the simple answer is that Amber requires very little CPU or GPU.

Or to put it another way, Amber 2 uses less CPU running epoch at 16MHz, than Amber 1 running MPU4 at 1.72MHz. (The first Amber 1 with the VB Core, not amber 1.1 with the C++ core)

Well, Im out the woodwork.

Thank you Guitar for all your contribution in this project, for once I smell no EPEE and actually see a light of the end of the tunnel, once theres a build out there I'm shoving some donated funds at fruit-emu and I'd love to punt some to yourself for the work you've put in,

Seriously its the first time I've been excited in FME land since someone dropped the JPM bomb. ( No complaints though :) )

Mike

Well, wish me luck this and next week.

I can't say what I'm talking about, but I can say it has nothing whatsoever to do with FME stuff.

I just need the next 2 weeks to go well.

Nevermind all that, the weekend has landed, reels, server, and finishing off, lets see how far I can get.

Edit to add: Its looking like next weekend will be release time (ish). I was aiming for sunday but there's a fair bit to do for the reels and then there's the polishing off, making sure the options work etc.

But by the end of this weekend I want the reels done and the server started. Assuming that's the case, next Sunday looks pretty likely for a release.

Another screenshot.

Prism lamp test with a grail, scaling turned off.

Matrix Lamps, Direct Drive Lamps, Flourescent Tubes, Prism Lamps, & Coin Lamps all working and acting as expected, can be saved, loaded, imported and exported.

Not a particulalrly good screenshot in terms of visual content, but it represents a major milestone in the code.

Now to make the reels look as good as the lamps.

Stage 1 of the reel shader complete, colour corrected omni lamping in place. I will be adding bit of a separation between the reel segments, but there will still be some light bleed between each reel symbol.

MFME vs Amber.

Same artwork, different renderers.

Reel shader is working now, a bit of artwork to do tonight to test the disc reel, band reel, and make Casino Crazy's reels look better.

Here's a preview then, I've cleaned up the reel artwork and turned on texture filtering

Video 1: 1024 * 768 (shrinking the image down) Attached

Video 2: 1920 * 1080 (enlarging the image)

http://www.dailymoti...m/video/x4hbrwy

Both show a jackpot, a bit of play, and some attract mode.

Disk reel and reel settings still to sort out, but visually it's all working very nicely.
