I have access to an Epson GT-20000 A3 scanner at work. Have done a few glass scans for personal projects. Could maybe do a couple, though getting the glass scans to me is the obvious pain. Wouldn't it be better if the 'resource fund' could be used to buy one for you, then you could scan them at your leisure, it's not rocket science. Though it is a lot easier on A3 as opposed to A4 and A3 scanners aren't that expensive nowadays.

In theory why not, although we would need to consider future usage and the logistics of such...
Neither glasses nor large scanners are particularly easily moved around the country. Although out of the two, the scanner is easier. Especially if you keep the original packaging.

I'd be more than happy to do that, it would also mean I can scan any other glasses for other people too. Would have to make some space for it but shouldn't be too difficult, though saying that it might be better to wait a few months as I'm looking to move house soon.

If not everyone is up for that then I could always attempt to use the photocopier at work actually, though I'm not sure how easy that would be

Lol. I wouldn't advice using a work photocopier. An accident waiting to happen right there 😏

So I've got my first glass. The colour of money scorpion 5. I know it can't be emulated yet but said machine I only ever saw in the wild once and the opportunity to have the glass came up so it's here waiting for me to buy or borrow a scanner.

Have just started buying a house though so may be a while before I actually get it scanned.

Which dond machines do we already have hi res pics for? I believe bfg put some on their website ages ago.

Reason I ask is I see a lot of these to be recycled for new games so the glasses are just going to be thrown away, pointless getting them if we've got resources already and they're pretty heavy and take up a lot of space.

The stuff on their site wasn't too bad but glass scans would be far better quality compared. I'd say scan all glasses you can if you have the time.

I've scanned a few glasses. The LED type scanners have problems with the 4-5mm glass depth to the artwork.  This causes focus errors.  The older style ones with the fluorescent tube fare slightly better but I found the results disappointing overall.  Yours may vary.

A4, doh!! That's going to make it a lot more time consuming. It's easy enough to scan there is no real magic settings. I'd scan at 300dpi. Anything else is overkill in my opinion, the original glass is probably printed at 150dpi.

Haha yes it will be but I didn't pay for it so can't complain. If I end up doing a good job with it then I may invest in a bigger one.

You should be fine mate, as long as you have some overlap they can easily be stitched in any art package. I could stitch them together if you scan them. It's just the file size that will be a problem. Not sure where you plan to host them. You could always send me a DVD with scans on and I could stitch them together and upload them to wherever they need to be.

Or you could just upload the a4 sections and I'm sure there are members that can easily do the stitching together.
