I've got an 8.1 windows, and I'm getting errors on both 32 & 64
On the 32 i've got a Direct X could not initialize error, but I've checked and IT IS up to date,
and on the 64 I've got an 0cx000007b error? it's megaly frustrating lol as i've waited for this
Maybe a new computer IS needed grr lol

I get that on girlfriends laptop on windows 10, think its down to no graphics card.
On my pc windows 8 which is good spec amber 64 runs, but I still get redist errors on 32 bit cant get it to run.
Try netframe.

Hold the shift key (might have to be left shift, it might be ok to use right shift) in edit mode and you can move and resize things with the mouse left button.
Hold the shift key and right click to autosize lamps. This will only work if you click the lit area of the lamp, and if the artwork was designed correctly to make it work. Simpsons needs sorting out, Casino Crazy works ok from what I remember if you want to test this.
If you look at LampsMapx.png (Where x is a number) you can see the lamp areas. If there isn't at least 1 black pixel between each lamp then autosize will work incorrectly. But even if you still have to do some manually it's far far quicker.
If you look at LampsMap0.png in the simpsons layout (extract it first by running it) then you will see the lamp areas are not clearly defined.
This is why the emulator requires that artwork is resized and then lamped, not the other way around. Otherwise the resizing algorithm destroys the detection as the colours no longer match exactly in each picture.
Hold the control key and you can left click machine buttons or insert coin from within edit mode.
Lets be honest though, regardless of having to move a few lamps manually etc, its still a LOT faster than making an on and off image.
Seriously Fantastic mate. If you need anyone to playtest the layout creation side of things Id be happy to help.
Cheers

Truth is you will need a £500 laptop to get amber running, it won't work on a £300 laptop with no dedicated graphics card.

I had a laptop with dedicated DX11 GPU for £375 delivered off Dell Outlet a while back, they are out there. Might just need a Intel 4xxx series processor on the laptop as those are DX11 compatible.

Neither will 99/100 emulators released today. High end PC required. Same for gaming.
It's not MFME, it's not 2001.
Which is why it runs fine on mine, no dicking about.

0xc000007b usually appears when trying to run 64 bit on a 32 bit system. Or when directx 11 isn't supported.
Roms need to be extracted directly into the roms folder, they cannot be in sub folders (yet).
Layouts can be in a named folder, but only 1 layer deep at the moment.
This will change at a later date.

Hi Guitar, playing Simpsons as I type, managed to get at least 4 JP's, there was a quote from you or someone saying you can't get a JP on the board, but I never get a yes on repeat. I installed DirectX, runs sluggish on Win 7, not yet tried Win 10 yet, my laptop was over £500 should be fine. Fujitsu Lifebook.

Question, my laptop made around 2010 has the graphic card " Integrated Intel Mobile 4 series" is it possible to overwrite that one with a direct X one? as there are websites stating it could be done, is this true? if not Playing Amber2 will have to wait, but I am still involved in the production of layouts for said emulator!

But in fairness we are emulating fruit machines so a high spec pc shouldn't really be needed.

This is what I was thinking, the carrot dangling vid via the other topic for instance, wizard obviously ran epoch (simpsons) etc via windows7 on the normal Mfme and Amber1 ran on any old poop, but I suppose Amber2 is more graphically enhanced but is it really needed as spa states is only fruities we're playing not arcade shoot em up games.
Anyways that's for guitar to decide its his emulator etc, when my trusty laptop goes bang I will invest in a higher product.
Another point how many members will actually be able to play this and or make layouts with the hi spec pc's needed?

So it seems people are now having similar problems I had with the original version of Amber. Ok so my old pc was same as the one God had on the Ark lol, but it did everything I asked of it, that was until I decided to have a go with Amber and it just couldn't cope with it.
Since then that pc has died and I had to get a new one, which again does all I want or need it to. As for Amber2, I haven't bothered trying it. People seem to be getting too many problems and errors, which is fine if you have the knowledge to sort them out. But me being a mere mortal who doesn't know much about the internals etc of a pc would only end up getting stressed, so to me, it just isn't worth the hassle and aggro.
I'm more than happy and grateful for the emus I can already run and have no need for all the fancy bells and whistles version 2 promises. I'm only interested in playing certain machines and don't really care what it looks like or whether the lamps fade etc. I can't ever remember standing in front of a machine and admiring the lighting effects or artwork. I would however stand in front of one (far too often if I'm being honest ) to play it and hopefully win a few quid I agree that it's good for people who like certain techs that aren't currently playable, but if it means paying £100's to upgrade to a computer which will run Amber2, then I'd rather spend that sort of money on an actual machine and have the real thing at home
These are just my thoughts and I'm not slagging anyone or anything here, so there's no need for anyone to have a go
