It's been out for at least a month I would say.

It's made two very brief reappearances, lasting less than a day at a time. I'm not an expert on web hosting, but I assume, it reverts back to the forums, when absolutely no one is paying to have some sort of landing/search page, appear, when someone tries to visit fruitforums.com. But I guess, it could be snapped up permanently, if someone rents/buy the domain fruitforums.com and the forum will then be gone forever, at least under that address.

The last person I knew who had any sort of ownership was Rogue and Pete W, still helped out with the technical wizardry.

If I'd known it was in jeopardy I would have tried my best to grab it, to keep it safe.

Too late for that now. It's been cash parked.

What does this actually mean about the former forums?

I know it has gone and closed by the looks of that - but who owns it now?

2 parts to that answer.

Someone might still have a backup of the database and files somewhere, which means that in theory the site could be restored in some form.

The domain name however has been grabbed by someone in California, presumably as a speculative investment. It's unlikely that will ever be retrievable now.

I'm not sure if Pete looked after that website.

He certainly helped with some of the background stuff as I said.

Although of course it was a few years back the last time, it needed anything done. IIRC he helped, with making it tapatalk compatible, which was met by sneering by some, due to a post on fruit forums, becoming as rare as hens teeth.

Whatever people's thoughts on the place, it is key that it is archived if in years to come, someone wants to write a book about all the shenanigans over the history of FME.  :jimlad:

Jokes aside Ian....

'The history of FME' in a thread would be a bloody good read mate.

It would HAVE to be be totally unbiased of course...but would be so beneficial to a few....and if they knew the history would stop a lot of snide/ill 'thought-out' remarks/post's by some.

Fancy the task bud?

It wouldn't be a book - it would be an encylopaedia - or novel like 'War & Peace'...

Only more wars than ever there was peace! ;)

If it was ever turned into an epic blockbuster film (stranger things have happened)... I bag Brad Pitt to play me! :goofy:

You're more likely to get William Pitt the Elder, and he's been dead since 1778...

The problem with me doing it... would actually be the history of this site.  I got totally lost with people using different nick names here to other places and then feeling the need to add numbers on the end... totally confusing.

Have you been ringing me?

I'll check my Contacts on my phone (the bugger keeps resetting or using a different email address for stored numbers - I don't use Google email) and make sure I have got your name and number still on...

You know that I would never intentionally not answer (but if you come as a number and not your name, then I'm afraid that is what is happening, as I don't answer the phone to numbers because it generally means I don't know them) - but I will take a look later when my mobile as recharged :) x
